Machine Shop Supervisor-Come Join a World Leader!

JOB SUMMARY: Assist with planning, directing, coordinating, and overseeing work activities and resources necessary for maintaining and operating the Machine Shop to support R & D and production.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A high school diploma required. Previous experience in oil and gas drilling industry a plus. Incumbent must have supervisory experience in production management experience. Employee must have the ability to set-up all equipment in his/her department and make minor repairs as required. Employee should be able to coordinate safety programs for all employees in his/her department. Must be able to work in support groups to ensure steady flow of material throughout the department. Must be able to maintain equipment at acceptable operating conditions. Incumbent must have experience in the following: layout and flow optimization; planning, scheduling, and release of work to production; and in reading and understanding technical drawings. A sound understanding in the following is required: quality tools such as SPC; lean manufacturing concepts; theory of constraints; MRP; and machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance. Incumbent must be able to manage high growth environment, have a good track record of delivering on time and meeting demand, and be able to maintain a large, fully trained and motivated workforce. ERP software and MS Excel expertise are required. Incumbent must be able to make effective and efficient decisions, and handle a high stress and high change environment. Good written and oral communication is necessary to accomplish job responsibilities. Must be able to communicate effectively, both written and oral, in the English language.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: Incumbent will establish and maintain the following: good inventory practices; SOP’s; and high quality reports, records, and files. Incumbent will also be responsible for resolving personnel problems or grievances and implementing and overseeing preventative maintenance schedules. This position requires strict enforcement of safety and quality practices and overseeing the execution of company and industry policies. Other duties include conducting meetings and training, analyzing operations and implementing process/method improvements, and reviewing processing schedules and production orders to make decisions concerning inventory requirements, staffing requirements, work procedures, and duty assignments, taking into consideration budgetary limitations and time constraints. Incumbent will be responsible for two (2) shifts. Other duties as assigned.
