MANAGER, POLICY ANALYSIS
Responsible for the development and coordination of TXU Energy’s public policy support activities including: providing the business with strategic guidance on issues, developing analyses to shape internal/external opinions on the issues, working with various stakeholders to develop internal/external communications. The Policy Analysis Manager will work closely with various business units, stakeholder groups and cross-functional groups to drive effective public policy solutions throughout the marketplace. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Directly or through others, a successful manager will:• Lead and participate in projects on a variety of initiatives that may cross multiple business units, stakeholder groups and/or functional groups. Major responsibilities may include: o Working with others to ensure project scoping is appropriate, deliverables are met, time involvement is appropriate and correct steps/approvals are taken through the process.o Coordinating and developing the business’ public policy activities and calendar.o Creating and interpreting analyses.o Creating consistent external messaging platforms in several formats (PowerPoint slides, Word documents, bullet points.)o Leading and performing research, including development, testing, and verification of market hypotheses. • Provide and oversee analytical capability to assess and creatively solve interrelated and complex public policy issues.• Develop timely, accurate, consistent, effective and integrated communications materials tailored to several audiences (internal TXU, Legislative and Executive branches of government, regulatory agencies, media) and situations on a wide range of public policy issues.
Job Requirements:
Bachelors degree in business, economics, or a related field; MBA or other business-related Masters degree is considered a plus.• Fundamental understanding of the energy industry, the impact of deregulation and associated public policy issues.• Experience with competitive markets, preferably the ERCOT power market.• Eight or more years of work experience in electricity industry preferred.
