Lead Accountant

We are currently seeking a Lead Accountant for our Shared Services Center located in Midland, TX.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  Providing supervision and guidance to a staff of accountants including assignment and review of their work activities Reviewing and evaluating monthly close process which may include cash reconciliation, revenue accounting, A/R, corporate accounting or operating segment accounting, depending on assigned functional area Overseeing the preparation of and reviewing monthly journal entries and monthly account reconciliations, as well as being directly involved with preparation of entries for more complicated topics Reviewing and monitoring performance of monthly controls, as well as preparing reports and records as requested Preparing, reviewing and monitoring support and disclosures for financial reporting (internal and external) to ensure compliance with established procedures and guidelines Providing input and assistance to auditors in SOX 404 to assure information provided is accurate Providing coordinated efforts to tax accounting in monthly close process to ensure accuracy and timeliness Preparing and/or overseeing the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and reports according to departmental procedures for management review 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration; CPA preferred Five (5) or more years progressively responsible work experience in the accounting function Prior supervisory experience Strong background in accounting concepts and principles, particularly in the energy industry Proven knowledge and experience in oil and gas accounting systems Ability to work in a team environment Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Access
