Internal Communications Specialist

Internal Communications is a dedicated group in the Corporate Relations function that provides strategic employee communications support on projects aligned with top business priorities for the purpose of increasing employee engagement.  Position Summary The Project Manager, Internal Communications will serve as a communications generalist providing strategic counsel as well as write, plan and coordinate communication plans.  Responsibilities:  Communications: Participate in communications strategy meetings, contributing and presenting relevant topics when necessary Develop written materials: Web and newsletter content, documents, presentations, e-mail messages, etc. Help develop and implement new print, electronic or face-to-face employee communications channels, including production of videos or other multi-media communication   Research and Development: Track upcoming issues/events Suggest articles/stories for Web, newsletter, employee outreach, etc. Help create key messages/positioning that support the needs of the business Determine best communications vehicle to reach identified audience   Project Management: Squeeze maximum result from approved budgets using measurement to justify spending decisions Measure effectiveness of communications channels and apply research findings to adjust and target ongoing communications to meet business and employee needs (e.g., process improvements) Establish strategic timelines for communications event/messages that meet needs of the business Design, develop and implement complete project plans (start to finish)   Insight/Coaching: Prioritize work based on immediate need and impact to the business Use sound business judgment to craft PG&E's messages and communications approaches Provide communications insight/coaching to key individuals Collect information and develop strategies for addressing and communicating the issues Keep multiple stakeholders on task according to project plan Ensure coordination of efforts and consistency in messaging with stakeholders Manage and maintain internal/external business partnerships   Additional Responsibilities: Limited, but occasional travel required (Northern and Central California) Demonstrate a healthy understanding of PG&E's core business: power generation, distribution, transmission, utility services, etc. Other responsibilities as requested Required:   ·       Bachelor's degree or advanced degree ·         Excellent oral and written communication skills ·        Good organizational skills and ability to consistently meet deadlines ·        Some experience with media channels (print, web posting, video production) ·         Proficient editing and proofreading skills ·        Proficient in MS Office products: Word, Excel, Power Point ·        Professional demeanor and bias for action ·        Knowledge of business fundamentals ·        Emotional intelligence and poise to work with executives ·        Able to develop strategic plans along with technical and business tactics and strategies ·        Ability to manage projects effectively ·        Ability to work independently and be effective in team settings ·        Ability to manage multiple complex tasks and projects concurrently   Desired:   ·        Preferred five to seven years experience in corp. communications/related field     Equal Employment Opportunity, M/F/D/V.
