Calpine owns, leases and operates integrated systems of fuel-efficient natural gas-fired and renewable geothermal power plants. Calpine Corporation is currently seeking an Insurance Manager for our San Jose, California office. This position will report to the V.P. - Corporate Insurance, and responsibilities will include reviewing, negotiating, and approving insurance language within various contracts such as subcontractor agreements, rental agreements, software agreements, etc. This individual will work closely with Calpine's contracts, legal, and operations department to resolve insurance related issues within contracts. In addition, this position will be responsible for tracking, monitoring, and verifying insurance certificates for third party contracts to ensure that coverage meets the contract requirements. Interaction with third parties and their insurance brokers/underwriters will be necessary to facilitate the appropriate certificate compliance. This individual will be responsible for maintaining and updating standard insurance clauses to be utilized in service related contracts, and must keep abreast of Calpine's insurance program as well as changes within the insurance industry.  Qualified candidates should possess at least a bachelor's degree in a business related field, and have seven years experience in a risk management/insurance related position. Extensive knowledge of insurance as it applies to third party contracts is required. Strong verbal and written communication skills, good interpersonal skills and knowledge of Microsoft related software products are necessary. Experience with Documentum software and an ARM/CPCU designation are helpful.    Responsibilities: Reviews, negotiates, and approves contract provisions relating to insurance language for all service related contracts including subcontractor agreements, consulting contracts, IT related service and software agreements, and rental agreements. Ensures that language within the contract protects Calpine's interest. Review and understand Calpine's insurance program so that all comments relating to insurance language within contracts are appropriate for the company. Work with others within the insurance department to maintain information concerning the insurance program and disseminate information to plant sites as appropriate. Effectively communicate Calpine's insurance program both orally and in writing. Work with various internal departments to review changes and modifications to insurance language and effectively communicate Calpine's position to all parties and ensure a timely resolution to any insurance related issues. Manage certificates of insurance for all subcontracts/service related agreements. Ensure certificates are accurate. Work with third party contractors and/or their insurance brokers to answer questions, resolve issues and obtain/maintain accurate certificates including new certificates as well as annual renewal insurance certificates.  Ensure that all documents are filed electronically and in paper format as required by Calpine. Develop and disseminate reports on insurance certificates as needed.  Maintains Calpine standard for insurance language which can be utilized in various contract forms and updates standard language as appropriate based on modifications to insurance standards or Calpine's insurance policies. Other duties as requested by department.  QualificationsQualifications:  Minimum seven years experience in insurance related position. Extensive knowledge and understanding of contract terms and conditions including insurance contracts and endorsements. Energy industry or oil/gas experience helpful. Strong verbal and written communications skills together with good interpersonal skills. Strong analytical skills and must be detail oriented. Bachelor's degree in business or risk management required and/or equivalent work related experience. ARM or CPCU designation helpful.
