Instrument & Controls Engineer - Lead (Power) Category:  Power Group Type:  Remote Office Description:  • This is the lead instrument and controls engineer with responsibility for all instrument and control engineering aspects of projects assigned via WGPS (These projects will be related to power generation utilizing gas turbine generators). The person will be the point contact to WGPS for all instrument and control engineering related issues.
• This position is also the lead support for the proposal generation team including the controls infrastructure of the proposed plants and selection of major automation components for insertion into lump sum turnkey power plant bids
• Person is responsible for creating and managing effort-hour budgets including supervision of others assigned to perform mechanical engineering activities
• Person will report to the General Manager, Houston Engineering overseeing the WGPS Team
• Engineer will work closely with the proposal team which has a schedule-driven atmosphere including making decisions and experienced engineering judgment calls with less than ideal information
• Lead is responsible for accurately forecasting and communicating discipline needs for both I&C engineering and design
• Lead is required to provide weekly and monthly progress reporting to the Engineering Manager or his/her representative needed to perform the job.
Requirements:  • Engineer is required to have in depth and current knowledge of all major controls systems commonly utilized in power plants
• Engineer must have current and in depth knowledge of stack emissions monitoring equipment, SCADA systems, and Remote Terminal Unit (RTU’s) used in the power generation environment
• Engineer must have knowledge of high-pressure, 1000psig, superheated steam instrument applications and sliding pressure control schemes for steam cycles
• Engineer must possess basic knowledge of switchyard configurations and high-voltage relay protection schemes for grid interconnects
• Person is required to be familiar with the aspects of working in a lump sum environment
• Engineer must possess superior communications skills for this vital link between proposal generation and project execution
• Proficient user of standard computer arrangement including e-mail and office productivity software
• Must be authorized to work in US
