ACCOUNTABILITIES• Delivery against Petroleum HSE targets• Provide advice and guidance for the consistent reporting of Industrial Hygiene related injury / illness events • Functional accountability to the Global Practice Leader – Fit for Work (BHP Billiton Corporate) and actively participate in the BHP Billiton Health Strategy 2012• Provide guidance and direction to Operations to ensure effective implementation of ‘Fit for Work / Fit for Life’ programs across the Petroleum Group• Actively promote/ increase awareness of the Fit for Work / Fit for Life programs within Petroleum • In consultation with relevant HSE professionals and Operations personnel, develop and implement a consistent approach to the management of Fit for Work / Fit for Life issues with consideration of the local requirements, laws and operating conditions• Provide support and development for other Industrial Hygiene colleagues in PetroleumKEY DELIVERABLES / KEY DIMENSIONS• Capital and operating budget• Total Asset Value• Annual Production• Other Key Measures• Number of Employees (staff & contract)• Member of: (i.e. CSG Leadership, CLG) BHP Billiton Global Safety NetworkBHP Billiton Communities of Practice (e.g. Fit for Work, Occupational Hygiene)BEHAVIOURAL & LEADERSHIP COMPETENCIES• Strong commitment to Company values, including the initiative for Zero Harm• Energy and initiative for driving continual improvement in HSEC management• Ability to lead people and get results through others• Effective team playerROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES• Develop and implementation Petroleum policies, procedures and code of practices • Implementation and maintenance of Occupational Hygiene and Health systems and for measuring, monitoring and reporting in conjuction with the HSE Systems Specialist• Coordinate and conduct the occupation hygiene monitoring program for Petroleum.• Provide Health and Hygiene input into plant modification and design.• Plan the annual Petroleum IH and health objectives.• Conduct audits and inspections of sites to ensure compliance.• Conduct risk assessments and provide IH site support at various stages of projects.• Identify access and recommend controls for hazards existing in the workplace.• Train HSE personnel on IH monitoring techniques, exposure controls and assist with HSE staff development.• Respond to emerging regulations, corporate requirements and expectations on health and IH issues.• Perform and/or review Fit for Work / Fit for Life self-assessments• Perform or participate in Occupational Hygiene and Fatigue Management self-assessments• Bridge identified gaps with effective tools and processes and identify opportunities for implementation across Petroleum• Liaise with various Corporate and Petroleum Occupational Health, HSE and Operations personnel to provide guidance and support on implementation of Fit for work / fit for life programs• Report on trends in Industrial Hygiene related events and make recommendations for improvementAUTHORITY & WORKING RELATIONSHIPSVice President HSEC (Petroleum)HSE Systems, Occupational Health and Training Manager (Petroleum)HSE Systems Specialist (Petroleum)Occupational Health Nurses (Petroleum)Occupational Hygienists (Petroleum)Occupational Health GPL (Petroleum)Global Practice Leader – Fit for Work (BHP Billiton Corporate)Global Practice Leader – Fatigue Management (BHP Billiton Corporate)EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONSQualifications • Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering or equivalent experience • IH Certification preferred• Experience developing and implementing IH programs. • Audit experience. • Experience developing and presenting educational programs and course materials. • Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent• Willingness and ability to travel internationally and offshore• Advanced degree(s) and/or professional memberships are preferredExperience & Technical Competencies • A minimum of 5 years of experience in IH preferred OIL and Gas. • Experience in the development, implementation and continuous improvement of Industrial Hygiene programs• Experience in Industrial Hygiene, injury management, medical assessment and knowledge of risk assessment techniques• Effective skills in coordination, consultation, leadership, training and auditing • Ability to demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills• Excellent written and verbal communication skills• Computer literacy in Microsoft office (word processing, spreadsheets, presentations and email management)Languages• English – mandatory• Other languages – optional THINK OF THE OPPORTUNITIES WITHIN BHP BILLITON.
