Hydro Automation Software Engineer

This is a permanent position located in York, PA.  Our client will provide relocation assistance.  Candidates should meet the requirements and qualifications below to be considered. Ability to go to Germany for 3-6 months for training, otherwise typically 30% travel to project sites.  1. Summary Statement:The Software Engineer will complete assigned system analysis and software development.   2. Primary Responsibilities:1.  Develop project specific custom software solutions for the Siemens PCS7 of Allen Bradley platforms. 2.  Taylor project template configurations as required meeting unique and specific requirements at each new plant. 3.  Provide documentation unique for each plant to aid future system maintenance. 4.  Record all variances using the approved department tools to maintain strict revision control of all software modules. 5.  Work with the Software Team Leader to develop software revision control and upgrade strategies for each project. 6. Work with customer and BOP engineers to specify and develop custom software interfaces to new or existing 3rd party systems. 7.  Develop applications as required to communicate data between the hydro plant control system and a remote dispatch centre. 8.  Provide test software and assist Factory Acceptance Testing activity after cabinet assembly is complete. 9.  Provide on-site commissioning support during initial system power-up/checkout/subsystem communication tests. 10. Provide on-site commissioning support during generating unit outages to assist electricians in testing I/O wiring and functionality. 11. Provide on-site commissioning support to test the control system software.  Maintain the variance lists; take part in project status reporting activity (conference calls, written reports, punch list maintenance). 12. Install hardware and software on “out-of-boxâ€� computer systems to ready the systems for use as engineering stations and plant operator stations. 13. Train Customer Plant Operators in the use of the Operator Display Stations. 3. Principal Working Relationships:Project Manager & Contract Administrator – Work with customer interface.Hydro Automation Engineering – Required getting work completed.Turbine, Generator & BOP Engineering – Interface required to match products.Purchasing & Vendors – Insure that items purchased comply with contract requirements.Field Operations – Technical assistance. 1. Education:BSME or BSEE with Power Engineering or Controls preferable.  However, related work experience with Hydro Automation Control Systems could be acceptable with lesser education. 2. Special Knowledge or Skills:Good organizational skills.Capable of handling multiple tasks.Needs to work in a team environment.Familiar with CAD systems such as Auto CAD. 3. Prior Experience :  Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in power plant control software engineering.  Familiarity with key control hardware and software required by our market.Siemens SAMATIC, Step 7, PCS 7 and WINCC environment.  4. Other Qualifications or Requirements:Troubleshooting skills.Travel required.Power Generation experience may be helpful. 5.
