Human Resources Director

Green Plains, based in Omaha, NE, is a vertically-integrated, low-cost ethanol producer. We operate four ethanol plants throughout the midwest, as well as a agribusiness division in northwest Iowa that operates several grain storage facilities. 

We are seeking a Human Resources Director to head our HR function in our corporate office located in Omaha.  This role is a two-part role focusing on both the strategic and the tactical.

While wearing the strategic "hat", the successful candidate will be a member of the senior management, will participate in the development of the corporation's plans and programs as a strategic partner but particularly from the perspective of the impact on people. He/she will work with senior management to define the human resources goals and objectives, translate the strategic and tactical business plans into HR strategic and operational plans, and to manage the budget and other financial measures of the Human Resources Department.

While wearing the tactical "hat", the successful candidate will work directly with department managers to assist them in carrying out their responsibilities on personnel matters.  We are a lean organization, and the HR Director will be responsible for carrying out and administering several portions of the HR plan. 

The successful candidate will have broad HR Generalist experience in all the functional areas of Human Resources.  As the head of the HR function, they will develop compensation plans tied to overall corporate stategy, as well as develop and administer the annual performance appraisal/merit review process.The Hr Director will negotiate progressive employee benefit programs, as well as administer the annual enrollment process and assist employees in resolving issues.

In the area of recruiting, the HR Director will develop the strategic direction and tools for ensuring the talent base of the organization, as well as actively recruit new employees across all levels of the organization.  The HR Director will oversee the training function, and lead training classes in areas of their expertise.
