HR Employee Relations Consultant

Jefferson Lab, located in Newport News, VA, is a world-class scientific laboratory. We are seeking a dedicated, experienced team member to join the Human Resources Department. Duties and Responsibilities:

Seeking a generalist to assist with a broad range of HR functions.  The successful candidate will have a proven track record in employee relations, employment law and compliance, training facilitation, and performance management. This position will be the point-of-contact for managers, supervisors and employees on general HR matters including, but not limited to: policy interpretation, performance improvement plans, management and employment practices, conflict resolution, and ethics compliance. 

Knowledge and Skills:

Solid understanding and expertise conducting investigations, policy and procedure interpretation, FMLA, general employment laws regulations and their application and adherence in the work place.  Candidate will also be skilled at data analysis and problem solving. The ideal candidate will be proactive, organized, discreet, comfortable interacting with varying levels of the organization, possess a positive work attitude, the ability to work well both independently and in teams, as well as a talent for multitasking. Superior attention to detail as well as excellent customer service, verbal, written, and communication skills.

Education and Work Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Human Resources or related field and/or equivalent work experience.  At least (5) five years related experience with employee relations activities. HR Certification (PHR, SPHR) preferred.
