HR Benefits & Payroll Accountant

Organizational Statement Enbridge Energy Company, Inc, a leader in crude and natural gas transportation, gathering, and processing, is currently seeking an HR Benefits & Payroll Accountant for our Houston, Texas office. This person will be responsible for reconciling all general ledger and operating costs accounts associated with benefits and payroll. Handles processing of all benefit claims and administrative fees for the VEBA, and updates VEBA database to provide management with monthly summary. Assures all correcting entries are made regarding account reconciliations. Assists the Benefits & Tax Accountant in preparing the financial statements and 5500¿s for benefit plans.Responsibilities Monthly, quarterly and annually (as required) accountable for reconciling all payroll and benefit operating costs and accrual accounts and insuring any necessary correcting entries are completed.Process all benefit claims and administrative fees, assuring proper allocation to VEBA and other appropriate accounts.Update monthly the VEBA database and reconcile to trust statements.Prepare monthly VEBA summary for management.Work closely with accounting on band reconciliation issues and outstanding items.Prepare appropriate contributions for the current & post retirement VEBA accounts.Assist the Benefits and Tax Accountant with audits and in preparing annual financial statements and filing of 5500s & 990 for benefit plans.Reconcile monthly medical/dental deduction withheld from retirees and deposit into proper accounts.Assure proper deposits are made into the VEBA for COBRA individuals.Prepare and update as necessary procedures/processes for above tasks.Maintain strict confidentiality regarding all benefits and payroll information.Assist with other Human Resources projects as required.Qualifications Accounting Degree or Accounting Associates Degree with 3-5 years experience with payroll and benefit accounting.Proficient with Microsoft applications including Word and Excel. Also, working knowledge of Oracle and Peoplesoft.Strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to service.Ability to work well under pressure, superior analytical and organizational skills, attention to detail, and versatile at facilitating management across the organization.Equal Employment Opportunity We appreciate your interest in Enbridge Energy Company, Inc.
