Government Affairs Manager - Government Affairs Manager
Entergy Corporation, a Fortune 500 company, is the second largest nuclear generation company in the United States. Entergy is planning to spin off its non-utility wholesale nuclear business into a new independent publicly traded company, Enexus. In connection with that transaction, Enexus and Entergy intend to enter into a nuclear services joint venture, EquaGen. At this time, we are seeking applicants for prospective employment with EquaGen and Enexus.
Staffing decisions will be made in a manner anticipated to result in the future success of Equagen, while maintaining continued success of the Entergy System.
Job offers for Equagen positions will be contingent on several factors, including the formation of the Equagen legal entity and the consummation of the spin transaction, which is anticipated to occur in the latter part of 2008.
External candidates who accept offers will become employed by the Entergy System pending the spin transaction and internal candidates will remain with their Entergy System employer pending the spin transaction.
Further information regarding compensation, benefits, relocation, etc., will be provided during the selection process.
We currently have an exciting opportunity available at EquaGen for a Government Affairs Manager located in Jackson, MS.
Responsibilities Include:
* Coordinate government relations policies and programs that support public perception and policy actions favorable to EquaGen as a premiere nuclear management operator and that support goals of owner companies, including:issue management lobbying and legislative relations grassroots advocacy trade organization and interest group liaison and tracking community outreach and special events for elected and appointed leaders
* Coordinate local management efforts related to public officials in partnership with owner company representatives
* Work with internal and external stakeholders, lobby team and third-party organizations in support of key messages, and legislative and advocacy agenda, coordinating nuclear subject expertise to asset owner Government Affairs staff in their development of relevant policy initiatives
* Participate in targeted campaigns of asset owners such as license renewal or baseload legislation, providing nuclear operations expertise and strategic planning advice
* Attend public hearings relevant to plant operations as well as member receptions, fundraisers
Qualifications: Requires Bachelor's Degree and 10 years work experience related to Government Relations, including 3 years supervising or managing the work of others. Must have excellent written and verbal communications skills and evidence of conflict resolution or negotiation skills. Must be able to handle a high degree of stress. Must be on call 24/7 and willing to travel frequently.
