Environmental Project Manager

Coordinate environmental aspects in support of environmental permitting and compliance. This work includes assessing environmental impacts; coordinating data collection; preparing permit applications; working with internal functional areas to ensure proper waste disposal and reporting; communicating and negotiating with resource agencies and stakeholders on project specific environmental issues.

Responsible for selecting and managing consultants in support of project review, data collection, permitting, pre-construction activities, obtaining state and federal permits to support the construction work, and construction monitoring.

Responsible for ensuring appropriate training on environmental aspect of project construction for contractors and ATC employees.

Responsible for ensuring compliance during construction with environmental regulations, permit and order conditions and commitments made by ATC.

Coordinate and oversee environmental compliance monitoring and permit conditions modifications with state and federal regulatory agencies

Responsible for compliance reporting to regulatory agencies, including consultant selection and oversight

Responsible for post-construction monitoring, including consultant selection and oversight. Active interaction with environmental team and project teams including engineering, supply chain, maintenance and inspection, communication, real estate and local relations groups 
Direct project environmental certification in a manner consistent with and supportive of timely certification, the ATC facility siting process and the ATC environmental commitment
Facilitate waste, recycling and reuse program, specifically for construction and maintenance activities.
Provide environmental support of maintenance management system.
Select and manage environmental consultant(s).
Participate in maintenance of Fred (ATC's Environmental Management System).
Assure compliance with applicable regulatory reporting requirements at the state and federal levels.
Proactively develop and maintain collaborative relationships with resource agencies and stakeholders associated with specific projects.
Participate in development and management of internal environmental policies, procedures and processes.
Participate in development of ATC internal and external environmental education programs. Provide environmental education in areas of personal expertise.
Coordinate environmental assessments of ATC properties and rights of way and oversight of any remediation activities on ATC properties. 
Coordinate due diligence on properties for which ATC is considering assuming environmental responsibilities.

EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, engineering, land use or a related field.

EXPERIENCE:

 Minimum of five years of related environmental experience. Demonstrates strong project management and organizational skills. Demonstrates negotiation, interpersonal, and communication skills (written and verbal). Familiar with the state and federal agencies, specifically Wisconsin Departments of Natural Resources; Michigan Department of Environmental Quality; Environmental Protection Agency; PSCW, and federal and state regulations to which ATC will be subject. Possesses in-depth knowledge of waste regulations and associated environmental issues.

Physical demands may include but are not limited to the following: Lifting and/or carrying up to 20 pounds or more, balancing, carrying, crouching, hearing, kneeling, stooping, standing, talking and walking. Visual acuity including color, depth perception and field of vision. There may be potential exposure to airborne particles (dust, fumes, etc.), electrical current, noise, muscular strain, and adverse weather. Travel to ATC non-office sites may be required.
