Electrical/Electronics Engineering;Energy/Nuclear Engineering Career Level: Experienced (Non-Manager) Industry: Energy and Utilities Job Ref Code: 080983 PacifiCorp is one of the lowest-cost electricity producers in the United States, providing more than 1.6 million customers with reliable, efficient energy.General Purpose Develops engineering studies, plans, specifications, calculations, evaluations, design documents, and performance assessments associated with the planning, design, licensing, construction, operation, and maintenance of the Company’s generation, transmission, distribution, telecommunication, or other utility facilities/systems. Responsibilities for this position include the following: The successful candidate in this position will together with others be responsible for the development and maintenance of strategies and policies that are used to prioritize and govern capital and maintenance investment in the transmission and distribution system and other related assets. Conduct studies involving statistical modeling of asset age, performance and utilization to ensure the drivers of system investment, reliability and performance are identified. Interface with operational and other organizations to understand their issues and operational requirements and ensure they are incorporated in the study plans. Develop and maintain key asset statistical and performance data and utilize them for the preparation of budgetary documents including justifications, funding levels and cash flow requirements. Act as a lead expert in the work group; train and mentor associate and career level engineers, technicians and drafters. Recommend alternative engineering solutions to management to meet business needs. Deliver on commitments and manage outside engineering services to accomplish the assigned work. Maintain project timeliness and budgets. Analyze and design engineering methods. Design, develop, modify, and evaluate systems, processes, or facilities to support company objectives.Requirements for this position include the following: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field; or the equivalent combination of education and experience. A minimum of five or more years of directly related experience in industrial power systems or electric utility power systems. Demonstrated knowledge and application of principles in area of engineering specialty. Project management and leadership skills including the ability to work as a team member, to maintain project timelines, budgets, and deliver on commitments. Understanding of Company’s business, and relevant policies, procedures, and practices. Knowledge of applicable federal, state, local laws, regulations and the National Electric Codes. Ability to perform effectively in high-pressure situations while maintaining focus and calmness. Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills involving the ability to work cross-functionally to understand requirements, present alternatives, and recommendations. Proficient with the use of personal computers including automated tools. * Will consider candidates with less than five years of experience; compensation will be commensurate with appropriate grade level.
