Department OverviewThe Enterprise Risk Management and Insurance Department provides unique services to PG&E Corporation and its subsidiary, Pacific Gas and Electric Company that are not duplicated by any single or group of departments within PG&E. Risk Engineering activities are designed to preserve company assets, reduce losses that compromise the delivery of service to customers, promote life safety, ensure compliance with state an local laws, and satisfy insurance carrier requirements for insurability. This is accomplished by establishing and managing an overall corporate property loss control program that identifies risk potentials and provides mitigation strategies for the management of that risk. This program has significant impact throughout the company and how PG&E is perceived by its customers and regulators.Position SummaryThis position supports ongoing programs that facilitate and monitor the status of activities that prevent and/or minimize the consequences of fire, mechanical breakdown and natural hazard risks. Some of the activities include; identification of risks and providing mitigation strategies for loss potentials which have direct impact on safety, reliability, and regulatory offices, and represents PG&E on national committees/standards making bodies.Responsibilities (25%) Perform loss control inspections, plan review, new construction property loss control specifications development and direct involvement promoting loss control issues. (25%) Provide code interpretations and design guidance consistent with nationally recognized codes and standards. Also, act as liaison with AHJ on various fire protection issues. (25%) Support of third party property and boiler/machinery inspections as well as state pressure vessel jurisdictional programs as needed. (10%) Facilitate and provide technical expertise in loss control and risk management to specific enterprise risk management (ERM) teams by evaluating key risk and collaborating with risk owners. (10%) Support various activities for the renewal of various insurance programs. (5%) Active in industry organizations and community.
