Granite Services is seeking candidates with mechanical aptitude / abilities, unafraid of heights (job location can be up to 200 feet above ground) and who do not have a problem with travel (up to two-weeks at a time). This contract is projected to last 4-8 months, but could last much longer. Candidates must be willing to travel at least 30% of the time and work outdoors in all weather. The Emissions Tester position requires an initial short term developmental period. Candidate must be willing to grow by learning from supervisors and co-workers, asking questions, reading Methods manual, and through hands on experience. Candidate must recognize the importance of the on-going relationships with clients and outside agency representatives, and work to maintain client satisfaction by representing the client with a positive attitude and actions. Possess limited to no knowledge of stack testing. Required Skills Include: Assist with packing equipment for testing under supervision Assist Test Engineer in running tests by marking probe s, hoisting equipment and recording data.Essential Job Functions for All Emissions Testing Personnel Ability to: Lift and carry up to 50 lbs Climb hand over hand up ladders attached to the smokestacks, potentially as high as 450 feet, or up scaffolding platforms as high as 40 feet Work at elevated levels for extended periods of time Drive a vehicle (truck the size of a moving van) for up to 10 hours Ride as a passenger in a vehicle for up to 15 hours Load and unload equipment from vans, trailers and box trucks Carry equipment up and down stairs Change working shifts as needed by the client Work inside and outside in extreme weather conditions for extended periods of time Ability to manipulate fall protection devices, such as clipping on and off a ladder Ability to set up rope and pulley on work platform; tie and untie roped equipment; pull up or let down tied equipment on a rope; pull roped equipment onto/off of elevated work platform Ability to set up equipment using union fittings Ability to use respiratory equipment in accordance with safety compliance Pass pulmonary function tests Pass random drug screenings Have a valid drivers license and be at least 21 years of age to drive mobile laboratory. Satisfy the DOT qualification requirements (including medical) Work overtime, including some holidays and weekends. Overtime occurs on a regular basis. Work with hand tools and specialized test equipment Must have own reliable vehicle, because occasionally the Emissions Tester may need to meet the mobile laboratory at a job site other than the main location in Santa Ana (mileage will be reimbursed for company business travel).Additional Information: Pay rate : 14.50 / hr, Per diem: $35.00 day, Mileage reimbursement for company business travel, No benefits, possible GE direct hire, if work performance is satisfactory during contract period. Travel at least 30% of the time and work outdoors in all weather; Out of state travel up to two weeks at a time; OT & DT applies under California labor law; should have clean driving record & should pass background check & drug test to be selected. To apply for this position directly at the Granite Services Website, follow: https://powersource.gsinc.com/recruiting/viewpost.dyn?viewpost=44021 Company: Granite Services International Inc.
