Electrician

Provide maintenance and construction of electrical systems required to support continuous operation of the plant.

 

Minimum Requirements:

 

 

Education

High School diploma or equivalent plus short courses on or off the job.

Experience

Three years or more of experience in power plant maintenance of which two years or more should have been as utility electrician or equivalent, or comparable duties in an industrial plant.

Knowledge

Skills and

Abilities

Have good working knowledge of the various electrical equipment found in a coal fired power plant such as: medium and low voltage motors and controllers, generators, electrical controls, etc. Working knowledge in reading and following wiring diagrams and schematics. Safety practices and regulations. Must have demonstrated ability in the performance of the duties of Station Electro-Mechanic. Must have demonstrated ability to perform the less involved operations in the installation and maintenance of many types of electrical equipment and to handle a variety of related tools. Must be able to receive and transmit orders and instructions in a manner that will obtain cooperation and satisfactory work results from employees assigned to work with him.

Working

Conditions

Must be able to work in all areas of the plant and grounds. Must be able to work in extreme temperature, dust, noise which may require special safety devices, equipment and clothing. Must be able to work on energized circuits. Must be able to work hours other than scheduled hours or days. Must be able to perform physical labor when required. Must possess a Florida’s drivers license. Must be able to perform tasks that involve the climbing of stairs, climbing of all kinds of ladders, sometimes at heights in excess of 100’. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds of weight. Must be able to operate a fork truck. Must be able to enter vessels, hard to access areas and the ability to use rigging equipment and be able to work from a scaffold. Must be able to be fitted and wear negative pressure breathing equipment when necessary.
