Responsible for performing equipment inspections and troubleshoot problems associated with power plant equipment.  Participates in inspections of plant Electrical/Mechanical equipment to improve the reliability of the facilities, determines root causes of problems and / or equipment degradation and develops mitigation strategies. Develops equipment health studies for the plants.  Directs the installation of special electrical construction projects, including the monitoring of the installation of new equipment / systems to ensure adherence to the engineering design, specifications and all applicable codes.  Coordinates, with the design engineer, the resolution of any installation problems or inconsistencies. Leads / assists investigation into problems and directs repair efforts of equipment such as generating plant control and protective systems, including problem root cause analysis, development of equipment repair options and procedures, schedule and material specifications, and the daily direction of these efforts. This individual will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing the reliability of the plant equipment. Takes an active role in business plan development. Supports the CT/Hydro Technical Manager in achieving the site(s) initiatives and goals.   Responsible for assisting plant(s) to be in full compliance with all environmental rules and regulations. Responsible for developing project justification and leading discussions with departments inside and outside of the group in identifying alternatives as well as impacts. Responsible for post implementation review of actual benefits vs. planned benefits of all projects. Responsible for providing technical support at all CT and Hydro sites as needed. Responsible for providing outage support as per the Fossil Outage Manual to all sites during outages. This individual is responsible for continues improvement of the facilityQualifications: BS in Electrical Engineering preferred and a minimum of 8 years experience with electrical equipment, power plant equipment preferred.  Able to work in a plant environment with absolute safety awareness.  Able to work extended hours unsupervised and be willing to travel including to all sites at anytime including overnight travel in many occasions Good electrical equipment and control systems aptitude and be able to apply technical skills to solve practical problems. Able to analyze complex technical problems and exercise sound engineering judgment. Able to write technical reports and develop recommendations as well as the ability to handle multiple assignments.  Strong written and oral communication skills. Ability to enter confined spaces with proper PPE as required.  Able to inspect equipment from scaffolding, both stationary and motorized, in a safe manner, with proper training.    Company: FirstEnergy Email: Apply by Email
