Chevron Products Company is accepting online applications for the position of Electrical Engineer located in El Segundo, CA.Overview:The Chevron Products Company Electrical Engineer will provide electrical power engineering support for a large oil refinery. Qualifications:Key Job Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:- Provide electrical designs support for routine daily operation of process units.- Prepare electrical work scopes, cost estimates, schedules, material specs, sketches, construction work packages, and other required documentation. - Troubleshoot electrical problems and issues, develop alternatives, and propose and implement solutions for long-term reliability;- Answer technical inquiries, make technical recommendations, improve design tools, and develop design procedures, provide training.- Carry out studies to improve plant safety, reliability, and economics.- Provide design review and evaluation of electrical portion of major capital projects;- Manage, design and execute electrical-related capital projects including power distribution systems up to 16.5kV.- Document and manage information related to electrical systems & equipment.- Ensure all work is performed in accordance with applicable Environmental, Health, Safety, and Building codes as required by Federal, State, Local, and Refinery regulations.Required (Basic) Qualifications:- A Bachelors Degree and 5 years of experience is required.- Knowledge of electrical equipment including low and medium voltage substations, switchgear, transformers, motor control centers and power feeders; Experience with the following:- Read, understand and develop drawings including single-lines, electrical schematics and area classification diagrams; - Develop design standards, procedures and training materials;- Evaluate and select suppliers for specific electrical applications;- Understand and analyze complex electrical issues including power systems up to the 16.5kV range;- Design, specify, purchase, install, commission and troubleshoot power distribution systems and equipment.- Project Management experience to include leading and managing overall design and construction of projects including management of project team to best utilize labor, use estimating tools and cost control measures to budget and monitor approved funds. Additionally, you will assemble work packages to ensure safe execution of construction work, monitor projects and workloads to meet deadlines and schedules. - Communication skills to effectively and properly regard input from all team members and stakeholders. Must be able to communicate technical ideas to a wide range of groups along with the facilitation of meetings with cross-functional teams. Teach/mentor others.- Interface effectively with Operators, Mechanics, Vendors, Contractors, Management and other groups to meet business objectives. Be able to foster cooperation and collaboration among individuals in a work group and effectively and constructively assist teams in conflict resolution. - High levels of proficiency with Microsoft Office programs along with skillful utilization of engineering software to perform electrical design analysis and evaluate alternatives. - Must be able to handle multiple activities simultaneously as well as balance day-to-day support issues with longer term projects. The electrical engineer will also be able to identify potential opportunities, set priorities, execute work with minimal direct supervision and successfully complete the work. Preferred Qualifications:- Experience with CPDEP (Chevron Project Development and Execution Process) and/or turnaround planning, and capital project work is desirable.- Experience with fault and coordination study software and Relay software is highly desirable.- Experience with design and maintenance of Cogeneration facilities is desirable. - A basic understanding of refinery/chemical processes & equipment and the interaction between refinery units is desirable.?Relocation Options:Relocation may be considered within Chevron parameters.International Considerations:Expatriates will not be considered at this time.
