Director of Database Operations
DIRECTOR OF DATABASE OPERATIONS
Reports to: Senior Director of Research
Location: Ann Arbor, Michigan
Job Responsibilities:
The Director of Database Operations will be responsible for managing multiple databases in the cleantech sector. He/she will be responsible for:
· Ensuring the accuracy of the data, and the maintenance and development of the existing databases covering cleantech companies and venture capital investments;
· Managing the complex flows of data entered from a variety of sources and ensuring the quality and integrity of the databases;
· Launch new database products, including products currently in development, as well as new products tbd;
· Designing and refining the user interfaces for entering the data;
· Refining the database taxonomy as necessary;
· Developing programs and guidelines for cleaning and validating the existing data;
· Manage relationships with service providers, programmers, and data partners;
· Manage querying and reporting functions, and supporting the staff in developing and implementing queries, and providing a set of recurring reports for internal and external consumption;
· Reviewing and recommending improvements to current processes;
· Facilitate staff understanding of procedures and protocols for data use between systems, including training; and
· Manage a team of 3 data specialists, including daily supervision and training.
Job Minimum Qualifications:
· Minimum 5 years work experience in database management and/or administration in a business environment. Minimum 2 years of relevant management/supervisory experience.
· Strong quantitative thinking, analytical and project management skills.
· Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
· Exceptional attention to detail.
· Ability to create, manage and document processes and procedures.
· Ability to work with Engineering and IT, and business staff.
