Data Analyst

Will assist in ad hoc reports, queries, stored procedures, analysis, data mining and requirements definition. Provide data management expertise in the areas of data extraction and manipulation, by developing extracts, cubes and aggregating data to support reports and user driven ad hoc reports. Partner with Business Analysts and Report Writers to gather and document reporting requirements and to analyze and determine functional specifications. Assist in the development, implementation and maintenance of the Data Warehouse and Metadata strategies of the company. Analyze and develop work on the metadata repository and operational data store. • Provide direct ad hoc reporting and data analysis. • Partners with customers to resolve information flow and content issues. • Develop and maintain system documentation. • Troubleshoot data issues and defects. • Develop SQL queries to extract, manipulate, and/or calculate information. • Perform analysis on quality and source of data to determine accuracy of information being reported and analyze data relationships between systems. • Identify long-term trends and relationships for data across groups. • Extract, migrate, cleanse and validate data from varying platforms. • Monitor and enforce compliance of data standards. • Provide data support, standards, naming conventions, sourcing, feeds and logical database design. • Maintains data dictionary, metadata, model repository. Education: • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Management or related technical field; or a combination of education and work experience required. Experience: • One year in data mining or data analysis and Oracle technologies. • Deregulated energy market preferred. Knowledge: • Principles, practices, and administration of technical issues. • Relational databases and fluent in PL/SQL. • Data modeling methodologies and tools. • Project life cycle. • Quality assurance and analysis. • Data warehousing concepts. Skills: • Commitment to customer service excellence and teamwork. • Excellent communication and listening skills. • Utilizing company policies appropriately. • Strong organizational skills. • Accessing, processing, and analyzing mid-to-large databases and thorough understanding of data lifecycle required. Abilities: • Apply and adapt practices and techniques to a variety of projects. • Establish and maintain effective relationships with employees and the general public. • Present facts and recommendations effectively in oral and written form. • Work under pressure while effectively managing multiple projects and tasks. • Understand impact of accurate data on customer projects. • Work effectively in matrixed environments with numerous stakeholders and multiple functional support groups.
