Chevron is based in San Ramon, California. Chevron North America Exploration and Production Company, a division of Chevron U.S.A. Inc., is accepting online applications for the position of Electrician & Instrumentation (Craftsman) located in the San Joaquin Valley (Bakersfield, Lost Hills, Cymric, and Fellows, California) through October 5, 2008.Overview:This position requires the knowledge and experience in oilfield maintenance of electrical systems and instrumentation. Electrical work includes operation, maintenance and troubleshooting of electrical distribution systems and equipment from 120V-115kV. Instrumentation systems include oilfield operations for production operations, well gauging, tank control and alarms, plant process control and alarms, and maintaining steam generator compliance.The candidate must be familiar with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) and understand Total Planned Quality Maintenance concepts. Candidates must support operational excellence by adherence to maintenance work processes and focusing on reliability. The ability to interface with representatives from different departments and organizations is essential. Health, environmental, and safety must be held in the highest regard through participation in safety meetings and BBS programs.This position is classified as an O&M position and is represented by a Union. Candidates will need to have demonstrated qualifications and abilities as outlined in Key Job Responsibilities. Qualifications:Key Job Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:• Electrical: maintenance of electrical distribution systems; 115kV, 70KV, 12KV, 4160, 2300, 480V, 120V with knowledge of transformers, breakers, isolation switches, reclosers, capacitors, low and medium voltage motors, and motor control centers. Knowledge of various electrical codes including but not limited to NEC, NFPA 70, CA GO 95, API 500, OSHA Electrical Safe Work Practices; and other industry standards for electrical and instrumentation installation. Ability to read and interpret one-line diagrams, P&IDs, motor control schematics, wiring diagrams, functional control diagrams in order to troubleshoot, repair, and optimize instrumentation and electrical systems.• Instrumentation: Maintenance of electronic and pneumatic control systems including but not limited to transmitters, switches, level devices, valves & actuators, flow and level control devices.• Oilfield Operations Experience Desired: good working knowledge of oilfield equipment, production and plant processes; steam generators, boiler and heater treater safety requirements. Ability to maintain, calibrate and repair 02 controllers. Familiar with steam generator 60 day, 90 day, and annuals requirements. Understanding of gauge setting process and troubleshooting.• Maintenance Processes: Knowledge and utilization of CMMS software and processes for maintenance activity and tracking. Ensures all maintenance work is performed consistent with work practices. Ensures equipment is maintained safely and efficiently according to Company policies and procedures. Actively supports the implementation of preventative maintenance work on all critical equipment. Focus on reliability of equipment and address “bad actors” as necessary.• Teamwork & Communication: Ensure alignment with workgroup’s goals and metrics. Understanding of safe work practices such as Standard Operating Procedures, Job Safety Analysis, and Management of Change. Computer literate with email and MSN Office software. Clear oral and written communication skills. Able to translate complex technical issues into user friendly communications. Keep team and customers informed of ongoing activities.• Safety: This is a safety sensitive position. Candidate must understand and support Health, Environment & Safety work processes such as Behavior Based Safety observations, Safety in Motion concepts, and work permitting, attend safety meetings and promote safety practices with company and business partner personnel.Required (Basic) Qualifications:• California State Electrical License is required; electrical experience equivalent to journeyman level will be considered in lieu of license if documentation of apprenticeship and hours can be provided.• Must possess valid driver’s license.Preferred Qualifications:• ISA Level 1 Certification is desired; must be willing to obtain ISA training and Level 1 Certification within three years.
