Communications Supervisor - Centralized Services
This new position will oversee the entire 896 radio communications system from an installation to maintenance perspective. This will include all hardware installed and utilized at all of our Gas Delivery and Electric Delivery locations. The position is being established to create a totally integrated centralized service for this work and establishing this new integrated organization will be one of the primary responsibilities. This position will set the working parameters for an “896 Radio Help” desk so all mobile radios and associated support equipment can be maintained from three key reporting locations, fully utilizing the Home Base Reporting features to service the entire state. There will be a dedicated budget for radio equipment and will have its main hub at our Fleet Maintenance Center to further support the timely installation of radios and associated equipment in all our new vehicles. The position is expected to provide the leadership and overall supervision in the construction, operation and maintenance of communications facilities in both Electric and Gas Delivery. Provide leadership and overall guidance to establish and maintain a successful Radio Centralized Service to the customers in Gas and Electric Delivery. This includes establishing all parameters for all workload activities from initial installation to scheduled repair work. Setting up a one number to call operation for all 896 radio issues.
Supervise and coordinate the installation, repair and maintenance of all 896 communication facilities in both Electric and Gas Delivery. This includes all mobile units, antenna, back-up and various other video/communications equipment. Maintain and apply working knowledge of PSEG standards for Business Controls and meet management's expectations for effective internal business controls.
Required Competencies:
.BA/BS degree in Engineering or equivalent experience.
.Demonstrated, advanced technical / professional knowledge and experience.
.10-15 years experience in mobile radio communications and operation with a minimum 10 years experience working on all aspects of 896 communications equipment / systems.
.Demonstrated engineering expertise or equivalent experience in the overall workings of the 896 communications process. This includes all desk top support and ancillary equipment associated with the management and control of the mobile units.
.Working knowledge of all applicable FCC guidelines and requirements governing such equipment.
