Ensures compliance with all environmental, governmental, and regulatory requirements. Sciences include but are not limited to chemistry, biology, and botany. Responsibilities of this position include the following: Conduct environmental inspections and determine compliance. Evaluate problems discovered during inspections to determine appropriate actions. Design and conduct scientific studies and tests. Prepare budget and develop plans for assigned tasks and projects. Develop scope of work and supervise consultants and contracts to ensure obligations, requirements, and compliance are met. Conduct complex research and perform investigations to identify and eliminate non-compliance with regulatory requirements. Develop and manage environmental programs and ensure the highest environmental standards. Monitor and report the status of environmental programs in conformance with regulatory and corporate requirements. Collect, analyze and report environmental program metrics. Negotiate with, and provide advice to the industry, government departments and the public on environmental matters. Develop policies, strategies and codes of practice on environmental management. Act as the subject matter expert and provide guidance to associate and career level scientists.Requirements for this position include the following: Bachelor’s Degree in a scientific discipline; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A minimum of five years environmental sciences experience. Research and analysis skills for identifying proper methods for conducting scientific or technical experiments in order to accurately interpret research results. Process management skills in order to identify and execute critical research tasks and interpret and summarize results. Interpersonal and communication skills involving the ability to work collaboratively with team members, to effectively communicate research methods, findings and recommendations to management through oral and written means. Proficient with the use of personal computer applications to support research and analysis activities. Knowledge of scientific principles in area of specialty. Understanding of environmental, governmental, and regulatory requirements specifically impacting work.* Will consider candidates with less than five years of experience; compensation will be commensurate with appropriate grade level.
