Associate Buyer
This role is responsible for identifying the most appropriate source for requested goods/services as well as negotiating, developing and managing agreements for products and services. The position is responsible for communicating ATC's expectations to the suppliers and ensuring that the selected suppliers meet all of ATC's requirements and expectations. This role implements the total life cycle cost process and project procurement plans for the portfolios and functional areas they support. This position is responsible for sourcing, planning, and providing support to project management.
• Develop and manage agreements with suppliers and execute bid-buy purchases for essential goods and services.
• Communicate material delivery risks to Project Management and Supply Chain Management.
• Communicate supplier and market information to Project Management and Supply Chain management.
• Communicate ATC specifications/requirements to suppliers and support a process which ensures that ATC specifications/requirements are met by all suppliers.
• Create and maintain purchase orders and change orders in ATC's system.
• Maintain purchase order data base/files/records.
• Ensure controls are in place and followed for various purchasing execution mechanisms (Contract, PO, P Card, e-Purchases etc.).
• Provide work direction to the Supply Chain support employees, as needed.
• Provide support and management of Supply Chain, Cost Savings and Supplier metrics programs.
Education:
• Bachelor's degree in business, engineering or a related discipline.
Experience:
• At least 1 year of purchasing experience, exposure to regulated utility environment is preferred.
• Negotiation and supplier management experience is preferred.
• Demonstrated knowledge of various contract labor agreements, the Uniform Commercial Code, state tax laws and business/corporate objectives.
• Must have excellent communication, relationship building and organizational skill sets to be successful in this role.
• A valid driver's license is required for periodic travel associated with this position.
Physical Requirements:
• Executive, administrative or clerical position in which employee is primarily involved with sedentary work, including keyboarding.
• Requires occasional lifting objects 10 to 15 pounds and/or light physical activity including bending, squatting, stooping, twisting, reaching, walking, standing and working on irregular surfaces.
