Accounts Payable Specialist

Job Description:  ACCOUNTS PAYABLE SPECIALIST for Renewable Energy Systems Americas, Inc. (RES-Americas), an expanding Wind Energy company based in Colorado.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1)  Enter invoices into the accounting system. Demonstrate an understanding of construction project codes and companies to ensure invoices are entered into accounting system accurately

2)  Enter Canadian invoices in the accounting system. Demonstrate an understanding of converting US currency to Canadian currency to ensure invoices are entered into the accounting system accurately

3)  Perform account reconciliations as requested

4)  Research invoice discrepancies as necessary

5)  Grasp new concepts and processes and implement them effectively

6)  Ensure invoices have proper approval

7)  Perform check runs each week and mail out checks.

8)  Balance inter-company accounts on a weekly basis

9)  Record a monthly accounts payable accrual every month for month end reporting.

10)  Record fixed assets on invoices that are presented for payment.

11)  Follow up on invoices and statements received to ensure all bills are paid in a timely manner

12)  Work professionally with clients, vendors, employees, managers and supervisors.

13)  Assist with fiscal year end audit schedules pertaining to accounts payable under direction of Senior Staff Accountant

14)  Enter journal entries as assigned

15)  Responsible to ensure SAFETY requirements must be met.

16)  Stay current with professional and industrial best practices.

17)  Must be able to work professionally with clients, vendors, employees, managers and supervisors.

18)   Regular attendance is an essential requirement of the job.

19)   Follow any other job-related duties/functions requested by the supervisor.

 

 

REQUIREMENTS:

1)  Ability to work well independently and as a team.

2)  Ability to multitask and work well under pressure.

3)  Excellent organizational skills required.

4)  Ability to meet deadlines.

5)  MS Office, including Excel and Word

6)  Knowledge of QuickBooks and Agresso Accounting Software packages a plus

 

EDUCATION:

1)  High School Diploma required. Associate degree in accounting preferred.

2)  3-5 years construction accounts payable experience.

3)  Must be computer literate with working knowledge of MS Excel and Quick Books.

4)  Good understanding of general accounting principles.
