Wireless Protocol Test Engineer

Locations: San Diego County and Orange County

DESCRIPTION:
The position involves developing protocol testing infrastructure, and executing test plans for a variety of wireless protocols (WiMedia MAC, Wireless USB, High-Speed Bluetooth) utilizing Ultra-Wideband (UWB) radio. Responsibilities include:
• Design and development of wireless protocol testing infrastructure
• Setting up and using UWB protocol analyzers (LeCroy, Ellisys)
• Performance and stress-testing of company’s wireless products
• Automation, scripting, and test plan execution

REQUIRED SKILLS:
• Familiarity with at least one Wireless MAC protocol in detail (WiMedia MAC, Wireless USB, 802.11, 802.16, Bluetooth…)
• Involvement with at least one certification program (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth…)
• Experience with wireless protocol analyzers (UWB, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 3G …)
• Comfortable with scripting (Perl, Python, Tcl) and html programming
• Good in C/C++ and object-oriented programming
• Good communication skills and highly motivated for a start-up environment

DESIRABLE SKILLS:
• Familiarity with LeCroy and/or Ellisys UWB protocol analyzer
• Embedded software debugging experience (JTAG debugging, protocol analyzer)
• FPGA experience
• Experience with SoC prototyping and development cycle

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelors in Electrical or Computer Engineering with 5+ years of working experience, or Masters in Electrical or Computer Engineering with 3+ years of working experience
• Past employment with a wireless SoC/ASIC development company as a protocol test engineer is highly preferred
