Wireless Communications Service Technician - Field / Bench
Responsible for the on site or in shop installation and repair of Cellular, 2-way FM radios, DC and Tone remote systems, Remote Base and Repeater systems, and GPS/AVL systems.   Install communication radios, data radios, lighting systems, sirens, control consoles, and other emergency response equipment into vehicles. Use schematics, ohmmeters, voltmeters, ammeters, battery testers, RF wattmeter, and RF dummy load. Diagnose and repair problems with 2-way radios, antenna systems, emergency lighting systems, sirens and associated vehicular wiring systems. Strip reusable components from retired vehicles. Refurbish light bars, control consoles and communication equipment for reuse in new vehicles. Troubleshoot electronic circuits to find the source of failure. Maintains accurate manual and electronic records. Prepares electronic activity reports. Utilizes computer programs to set up, maintain, enhance or troubleshoot wireless communications systems. Stays current and up to date with industry.
