UNDP Software Applications Engineer (Not Seeking New Grads)

Job Description
The role of this position is to enable and provide software engineering services to Qualcomm UNDP Module users such as laptop and smart phone manufacturers. As a Software Applications Engineer, you will be interfacing with external manufacturers and Qualcomm engineers to do due diligence, design and develop common software modules, debug failures, suggest fixes, improve software, enhance test procedures, develop scripts to automate debugging and document various procedures and debug techniques. This is a highly technical position requiring significant hands-on work in the following areas:

Qualcomm Mobile station software, Embedded Software, Real Time OS, PC driver software, System selection, Call Manager and WCDMA/GSM/GPRS wireless protocols, related specifications, their implementations, Wireless Mobile Test Equipments, test procedures, and industry standard test tools.

Some travel (domestic and international) may be required. If you are looking long term to move into a Product Management role, then starting as a Software Applications Engineer is a great foundation.

Skills/Experience
Strong experience in C programming required
2+ years of development experience in MS-Windows Drivers, MS-Windows PC applications, embedded Software API services layer, and real time operating systems is required
Must have strong communication and interpersonal skills
Must be a self starter

Additional Skills
Embedded or wireless system software development on portable devices is preferred
Development, testing & implementation experience in WCDMA/CDMA/GSM/GPRS or other 3G/2G protocols and air interfaces is highly desirable
Familiar with software integration and debugging on embedded real time operating systems
Prior experience with developing, testing and/or deploying wireless data card modules or handsets is preferred

Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering/Computer Science/Electrical Engineering required. Master's degree in Computer Engineering/Computer Science/Electrical Engineering preferred.
