Systems Engineer


Summary:
EFI-VUTEk is currently looking to add a talented Systems Engineer to our Software Engineering group. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating the development of interfaces for complex, software driven, electro-mechanical systems.  In addition this person will work closely within the engineering department gathering requirements and specifications for use in developing large format printers, working with marketing and other internal departments to help identify and define new feature sets and system level requirements.

Responsibilities:
1.  Develop specifications against which designs can be produced and product performance can be measured.
2.  Evaluate and selects optimum design alternatives by performing trade-off analysis.
3.  Determine design feasibility and assures that product designs are competitive while working within the scope of the program schedule.
4.  Development and management of design requirements. Oversee the development of requirements of different disciplines such as Software, Electrical, Mechanical, Ink and others. Verify and approve all requirements.
5.  Outline system level analysis such as system functionality, print modes, safety, reliability, failure modes, etc and specify quantifiable success criteria.
6.  Support System Integration, Verification and Quality Assurance by defining, specifying and supervising testing and analysis. Preparing reports to document the results of such activities.
7.  Provide direction to others who determine appropriate materials and processes for specific component applications.
8.  Evaluate engineering prototypes and translates experimental results into design criteria.
9.  Develop task inputs to engineering project plans and maintains liaison with other departments of the organization.
10.  Provide technical presentation support and consultation to marketing.
11.  Utilize project planning and monitoring methods to ensure timely completion.
12.  Support the manufacturing process in resolving design problems.

Required Experience:
•  Engineering background BS CS, EE or other relevant field
•  2+ years working with large electro-mechanical systems including hardware/software integration
•  Requirements development and traceability analysis
•  Systems engineering processes/tools (DOORS preferred)
•  System Requirements development
•  Systems planning and development
•  Excellent written and verbal communication skills
•  Must excel in a multi-disciplined team environment

Preferred Experience:
•  Master’s degree in Engineering discipline or equivalent experience
•  Application level software programming experience (2+ years)
•  Object Oriented Design (OOD) experience
•  Understanding of standard analytical tools (e.g. Matlab, MathCAD, IDL)
