System Engineer - Desktop Experience (Years): .. Overview: System Engineer- Desktop Arrow Electronics, Inc. Denver, CO/Melville, NY At present, we have an excellent opportunity for a System Engineer in our Denver, CO or Melville, NY location. This is an excellent opportunity for a Level II Desktop Engineer in our Melville, NY or Englewood, CO Branch. Primary responsibilities include the establishment of corporate desktop and laptop standards and application certifications for mass deployment via our Altiris Desktop Management Suite. You will also influence future technology decisions as it pertains to desktop hardware, application recommendations and virtual desktop configuration. This position also requires a focus on the integration of new technologies into our existing environment. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: - Analyze and troubleshoot problems involving web, application, database servers, firewalls, routers and COTS applications. - Provide 2nd and 3rd level support working directly with Applications Development, users or other members of DSG. - 24x7 on-call support on a rotating basis. - Participate in yearly Disaster Recovery tests. - Participate in eDiscovery projects as directed by Security Team - Build, optimize and support virtual desktop infrastructures, Citrix applications and other virtualization technologies. - Potential travel to Arrow branch offices for installations and/or problem resolution. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: - 5-8 years of experience Engineering desktop solutions, packaging corporate applications and troubleshooting trouble tickets escalated from Desktop Support Team - Strong working knowledge of virtualized desktop and virtualized applications - Experience in building application deployment packages and administrating Altirs CMS tools, as well as a strong knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy and XP configurations - Ability to troubleshoot complex desktop and network issues successfully to determine root cause - Strong communication and diplomacy skills to exchange complex and/or sensitive information PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: - Working knowledge of Active Directory - Working knowledge of Altiris CMS suite - Working knowledge of virtual desktop and application technologies We offer a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package, which includes tuition reimbursement, employee stock ownership plan, health and dental plans, 401(k), and a unique sabbatical program.
