PURPOSE: To provide injection molding process / tooling support and product design input that will assure Flextronics is providing innovative and cost effective solutions that exceed the expectations of our customers   PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES: This is a “hands on” customer support position with the following responsibilities: Provide proactive customer design support for injection molded components and complex electro-mechanical assemblies involving plastics. Evaluate and contribute to the development new molding techniques and plastic materials/technologies for specific applications, both through internal development and relationships with suppliers. Initiate and implement cost reduction programs related to process and material technology. Perform mold design and analysis. Develop molding specifications. Assist in technical training as required. Oversee engineering functions of the concept & development phases of a structured product development process for mechanical components. Support the analysis and problem resolution with machinery, tooling robotics and equipment.  Trouble-shoot and solve technically complex material problems. Technical support of mechanical business development activities for Flextronics Mobiles Segment. Communicate customer product trends and associated future requirements with internal technology and development functions to drive innovation and value-add capabilities for Flextronics. Significant travel required (50%, domestic & international). Job Requirements: BS Degree in Mechanical, Plastics Engineering or equivalent; Advanced technical degree preferred; 8+ years of relevant process or tooling engineering experience. Strong independent planning & customer interface skills.  Advanced training and experience with various plastic technologies. Strong working knowledge of polymeric material.  Must have solid theoretical and working experience knowledge of plastics material behavior.  Experience in mold design, construction and debug. Experience in mold set-up, prototyping and DOE. Experience with materials, tooling, finishing, & secondary assembly processes. Experience with solid modeling, mold simulation analysis, and DFx for injection molded & mechanical assemblies.Manufacturing / Design experience with the following being a strong plus:   Project management (certification) with working knowledge of MS Project or comparable PM software Process control Scientific molding or equivalent structured training FMEA MoldFlow software/analysis Six Sigma (green belt certification) Lean Manufacturing  Communications skills must include: Verbal skills to communicate interpreted needs for design change, testing results, mold performance, molding results to design engineers with various engineering backgrounds both internally and externally Written skills for various types of reporting including but not limited to: Data Collection/Process Control, Process Capability Studies, Quality Reporting per FSD, cGMP and/or ISO standards, Forecasting, Volume Projections, Actual vs. Predicted Production Performance and Quoting Experience working on-site with Asian based manufacturers is a plus.     Flextronics is an Equal Opportunity Employer Click here to apply for this job http://flextronics.ats.hrsmart.com/cgi-bin/pm/click.cgi?job_id=14639&site_id=123
