Sr. Mechanical Engineer

We are looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Beaverton Engineering Team.
As a Senior Mechanical Engineer for LeCroy, you must be interested in project leadership and advanced technology development and will be challenged to think outside the box. This position will require both broad application thinking like technology mapping and detailed design. You will architect large systems, design small sub systems and will design, analyze, develop, test and modify the mechanical and electromechanical components for products and systems to meet customer needs. This position is central to the development of any physical product (as opposed to a pure software type product). Specialization in miniature design and part fabrication a requirement.
Responsibilities:
· Work with marketing professionals and key customers to define products.
· Architect systems and identify key new technologies.
· Develop key new technologies.
· Create conceptual designs of new parts using design tools (ProE, Corel, etc).
· Construct prototypes of proposed designs (personally or source through appropriate fabrication process).
· Interact with suppliers and manufacturing engineers to ensure that designs are robust and manufacturable.
· Test prototypes to ensure design specifications are met.
· Release detailed design documentation of validated designs.
· Process engineering change orders and requests as responsible engineer for mechanical parts and subsystems.
· Conduct design reviews for parts and systems.
· Check the detailed designs and drawings of other engineers.
· Troubleshoot production or assembly problems of mechanical parts/systems in current Company products.
· Must be proficient with Wild Fire 3.0, have some Intralink Administrative skills, and be proficient with small computer networks.
Requirements:
· B.S. Mechanical Engineering.
· 10+ years of commercial product design.
· Knowledge of non-ferrous and ferrous metals, miniature injection part design, advanced molding techniques like co-molding and over molding.
· Experience using 3D solid modeling software to design and detail parts and assemblies.
· Knowledge of part dimensioning and GD&T industry standards for drawings.
· Possess excellent communication skills for interfacing with internal engineering personnel as well as external contacts such as mechanical part vendors and contract manufacturers.
· Experience with Thermal modeling for small hand held electronic products
· Knowledge of standard EMI/EMC design rules and management solutions for electronic enclosures is a plus.
· Ability to apply knowledge of mechanical engineering principles to design products.
· Must be able to generate creative design solutions for parts and systems.
· Must have experience with miniature (hand held or smaller) product /part design.
· Knowledge of industry standard electronic enclosure hardware solutions is a plus.
· Must Knowledge of industry standard electronic connector solutions. Experience designing connectors and electrical contacts a plus.
· Must have knowledge of PCB and PCA design and fabrication processes as relates to concurrent mechanical/electrical design.
· Knowledge of capabilities and limitations of rapid prototyping technologies for part prototypes.
· Must be able to perform tolerance stack-up analyses to ensure acceptable assembly.
· Knowledge of typical assembly techniques to ensure DFX.
