Sr Application Engineer

Job Description
This position is in the processor architecture development team located in Austin, TX. This team is responsible for developing, supporting, and advancing the architecture of Qualcomm's newest DSP, named Hexagon. Current and future versions of this architecture will drive key elements of Qualcomm's modem and multi-media chipsets.

Responsibilities

1. Support development of internal and external modem and multimedia customers.

- Will work with system engineers to translate algorithms into realizable C code

- Will work with software engineers to ensure the developed C code integrates efficiently into the real time implementation

- Algorithm optimization of the implementation

- Software and system debug

2. Develop, test, and support signal processing library.

3. Develop optimized reference implementations of standard modem and multi-media codecs.

4. Participate in architecture design for future generation DSPs.

- Identify application bottlenecks

- Identify opportunities for future improvement, such as application targeted new instructions.




Skills/Experience
Necessary Skills

- Extensive experience in developing and optimizing software for DSPs required

- Proficiency in assembly language programming, experience in TIC64x, ADI TigerSHARC or StarCore is strong plus

- Proficiency in C/C++ language programming

- Ability to quickly learn new algorithms, architectures and programming environments is expected.



Additional Skills
- Experience in wireless communication or multimedia system is plus.

Education Requirements
At least 2 years work exp, prefer 5+
