ESG designs external storage products including: External storage controllers and systems, Internal server based RAID cards, storage management software, data protection layer FW and data management level software. ESG is the leading provider of storage solutions to most major OEM’s worldwide.LSI-ESG is actively pursuing a Senior Storage SW and Systems Architect to work within the ESG Storage Solutions Architecture team within the ESG Strategic Planning and Architecture team. This role will provide LSI-ESG Solutions Storage Architecture leadership and architectural direction for Storage Data Services applications to be developed or partnered for by LSI. This role will work closely with the ESG Strategic Planners, hardware and system architects and technology architects. The architect filling this role will seek to understand and refine customer requirements for advanced storage data service technologies in today’s highly virtualized server and storage environments, and then develop storage system solution architectures and feature definitions to address those requirements. This role will also interact with key technology vendors to determine appropriate internal directions as well as to ensure that the external suppliers provide the required technology within the required strategic timeline, handing off to Strategic Sourcing and Engineering at the start of product development. Travel requirements:• Open to the national and/or international travel with a typical one to two week prior notice. A valid passport is required. • The typical travel frequency for this position varies from 8 to 12 trips per year. To Apply Visit LSI CorporationQualifications: Technical skills• Computer Engineering or Computer Science 4-year degree or greater, with 15+ years system design and architecture experience.• Minimum of 3 to 5 years of specific work experience with the development and deployment of Storage Data Services applications and data management services with direct involvement with technologies such as System Back-Up & Restore, Virtual Tape Libraries, Continuous Data Protection, De-duplication, Hierarchical Storage Management, etc… • Demonstrable experience in the design and development of designing IO services within a virtualized server environment utilizing such technologies as Xen, VmWare, multi-thread/multi-core programming environments, virtualized volume managers, etc… • An exhibited record of demonstrated leadership ability defining/specifying customer oriented storage solutions is required.• A solid background in C/C++ programming is preferred as the foundation for the technical requirements of this position. Strong working knowledge of object-oriented design and UML is also preferred.• Familiarity with External and Internal RAID controller HW and FW technology as well as HDD functional theory, including the latest related industry standards with exposure to SBB, DDF, SES, DIF, MAID, FDE …etc• Strong and diverse background in today's latest storage IO-interfaces, including optical, serial and parallel bus connectivity: FC, iSCSI, SAS, SATA, IB, PCIX, PCI-Express, ASI …etc • Strong knowledge of the overall system-level topology of storage subsystems within today's typical modern server/storage network infrastructures.• Strong understanding of the various server to storage topologies: DAS, SAN, NAS …etc• Basic knowledge of the overall storage industry competitive landscape.• Higher than average creativity skill with a strong history of storage patents.• Strong Technical writing skills, with experience in Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Visio …etc
