Software Engineer - Linux Application Frameworks (All Levels)

Job Description
Qualcomm's Embedded Linux Solutions team works on enabling and optimizing Linux on various MSMs. This candidate will be part of the Embedded Linux team and will work on porting various Linux Application platforms to the Qualcomm Linux Solution.

This position involves both extensive hands-on development/porting as well as working with various remote teams and external vendors effectively.

Develop product expertise and apply toward providing platform porting support to internal teams and OEMs. Specifically, you will provide in-depth technical design, debug, and code level support to internal and customer engineering teams.
Exercise keen troubleshooting skills to rapidly isolate reported problems.
Interface to cross-functional teams within Qualcomm, including QCT Applications Engineering, AST and Product management.
Travel to key partner and OEM sites for support may be required.


Skills/Experience
5-7 years of engineering experience
Proven ability to design, debug and document complex software applications
Proven programming experience in C or C++ required
Userspace programming expertise in Linux required
Familiarity with object-oriented design, COM or related technologies is highly desired
Prior experience with AMSS or MSM platforms is a plus
Technical understanding of wireless applications and network interactions with handsets - e.g., browser, messaging, email, app downloads, etc., is highly desired
Experience developing and debugging in embedded environments is highly desired
Experience in Java programming is a plus
Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required
Mature interpersonal skills with an ability to collaboratively work with many varied teams and resolve problems spanning many disciplines
Proven ability to work in a dynamic, multi-tasked environment

Additional Skills
Experience with Linux UI frameworks such as Gnome/GTK+, Qtopia, QT and Android is a major plus
Knowledge of the Linux kernel and its operation is highly desired
Java, OOP, COM, RTOS, Embedded programming, JTAG, UI, GUI


Education Requirements
Required: Bachelor's, Computer Engineering and/or Computer Science
Preferred: Master's, Computer Engineering and/or Computer Science
