1.0 Job Summary
The Software Engineer I is a highly self-motivated individual whose responsibilities include but are not limited to:
· Software aspects of product design, including code and test
· System integration: incorporation of software designs with other design disciplines
· Working as part of a team to design new products and improve existing products
· Creating documentation to define and implement designs
· Interacting with customers to discuss project activities and address technical concerns
The Software Engineer is expected to:
· Complete all work with a high level of workmanship and quality
· Perform all work activities in a manner that promotes integrity and trust
· Contribute to and maintain a respectful and collaborative work environment2.0 Job Responsibilities2.1 Project Team Participation
· Contribute on or lead technical teams (as requested) to design products and solutions to meet budget, schedule, and product performance goals
· Follow the procedures of the company's Quality System2.2 Product Design
· Create specifications, design documentation, and plans as required
· Design software architecture and generate code to meet requirements defined in the product specification(s)
· Select appropriate electrical components that are cost effective and available, taking into consideration manufacturing process constraints and obsolescence
· Perform trade studies as necessary for component, process, and supplier selection
· Generate or oversee generation of necessary documentation and design data to support the introduction of products into manufacturing, e.g., bills of material, source control documents, gerber files, tooling files
· Perform and document design substantiation activities as required, both analytical and empirical. These activities may include and are not limited to:
o Timing analyses
o Accuracy analyses
o Worst case analyses
o Fault tolerance analyses2.3 Product Development & Life Cycle Support
· Plan, perform, and document verification testing to demonstrate compliance to design requirements
· Plan, perform, and document validation testing to demonstrate compliance to product requirements
· Collaborate with Production and/or Manufacturing Engineering to define product builds and production test procedures
· Generate Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) as necessary and attend ECO meetings when requested
· Review ECOs as requested, assess design and regulatory requirements compliance impacts
· Support internal teams (MRB, ECO, OBF, etc.)
· Review drawings and documentation for completeness and correctness before submittal to Document Control
· Provide assistance and guidance as necessary to Manufacturing Engineering and/or Production for:
o Rework instruction definition
o Quality Control Discrepancy Report (QCDR) dispositions
o Root cause identification and corrective action definition2.4 Customer Interface
· Meet with customers as required; understand projects and concerns from customer’s perspective
· Provide inputs as requested to generate proposals and customer quotations
· Document customer correspondence as required
· Assist in the process of customer complaint and field resolutions as requested2.5 Professional Skills & Development
· Maintain a working knowledge of company's MRP system
· Maintain organized records of work products, design artifacts, and customer communications
· Stay current with the latest technology as it relates to company's current and prospective products
· Attend tradeshows, seminars, and/or workshops as requested3.0 Physical Demands
· Ability to lift weights up to 15 lbs
· Sitting at a desk approximately 80% of the work day
· Working at a computer approximately 80% of the work day4.0 Work Environment

· Quiet conditions5.0 Qualifications
· Minimum of Associates degree in Electrical Engineering, Bachelor degree preferred, or commensurate level of relevant experience
· Ability to interpret and create schematics, printed circuit board layouts, and bills of material
· Ability to perform electrical design substantiations, both analytical and empirical
· Thorough knowledge and understanding of electronic components and circuits, both digital and analog
· Working knowledge of and experience with schematic capture and layout tools
· Ability to be a contributing member of a product design team
· Ability and desire to learn and utilize new technologies as they relate to electrical and electronic design
· Ability to communicate effectively, professionally, and respectfully with customers and suppliers
· Ability to communicate effectively, professionally, and respectfully with individuals in engineering and all levels of personnel
