Senior Software Engineer

  DescriptionLooking for a highly motivated individual with extremely strong engineering skills and background in Java/C/C++ based software development to work on our Eclipse/CDT based IDE and related embedded software tools. The position is located in San Jose, CA.ResponsibilityAs a member of the Xilinx Embedded Development Tools group working on the industry leading Xilinx Platform Studio Software Development Kit (SDK), the candidate's primary job responsibilities involve R&D for our Eclipse/CDT-based IDE and related tools for microprocessor software development, debug and verification that support FPGA-based embedded SOC (systems-on-chip) designs. The candidate will interact frequently with stakeholders in other teams to understand issues and create and/or enhance software solutions that enable our customers to verify their designs and develop embedded software applications running on Xilinx FPGAs.In the first 6 to 12 months, opportunities for professional growth and the engineering tasks the candidate will perform include: Work with a team of highly experienced and dynamic software professionals that develops a range of embedded hardware and software design tools. Gain exposure to embedded system design, modeling, simulation, debug and verification; software IDEs, compilers, debuggers, OS, BSPs and device drivers; open source tools and IP; and FPGA hardware design flows and programmable SOC design with embedded processors. Be introduced to the existing code base for our tools. The candidate will have many learning and mentoring opportunities for large scale commercial software development. You will be involved in cutting edge software development on Linux and/or Windows based environment. Learn our microprocessor software development and debug tool chain, including our Eclipse/CDT-based IDE. Design and develop new features and enhancements, including support for new Xilinx Silicon devices and extensions to our embedded software development, verification and debug tool chain. The candidate should have experience with Java and C/C++ based software development, preferably in software focused development tools. Experience developing Eclipse plug-ins and CDT extensions is preferred.   Job Requirements Requirements for this position include: Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or Computer Engineering with 2 to 4 years of commercial software development experience, including 2 years using Java as the development language and 2 years using C/C++. A Masters degree is preferred but not required. Object Oriented Design methodology Experience developing Eclipse plug-ins and CDT extensions preferred Experience with Xilinx or Altera FPGA development tools is a plus Experience using or creating embedded software development tools, including integrated development environments (IDE), compilers, debuggers, and RTOS, is a plus Knowledge of computer architecture and operating system is desirable Experience with scripting languages like Perl, Python, TCL and UNIX shell Demonstrated ability to acquire new skills and achieve challenging goals Effective written and verbal communication skills Strong desire to pursue appropriate solutions for technical and non-technical problems Strong problem solving skills   About UsProgrammable Logic is Our Business Xilinx leads the Programmable Logic Device (PLD) market - one of the fastest growing segments of the semiconductor industry.
