The Process Engineer is responsible and accountable for the technology contained within a given product or process. Provide technical support for materials or chemical processing. Establish process parameters and control methods. Initiate process improvement via Six Sigma methods and drive yield studies to ensure process stability and cost effectiveness. Promotes consistent quality in the operations through the application of engineering theory and control principles. Lead cross-functional teams to address customer critical issues and/or drive productivity improvements.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. (Other duties may be assigned.)
Conducts process characterization/optimization studies to determine process capabilities for meeting customer requirements.Process control and parameter monitoring to ensure process repeatability and stability.Provide technical input for Standard Operating Procedures and Work Instruction to ensure the technical accuracy of documentation.Analyze equipment needs/purchase as it relates to process technology that has an impact on expanding process capability and capacity.Investigate and report process related failures and determines root cause.Drive yield improvements and defect reduction efforts.Represents company and engineering group as it relates to area of responsibility.Work within engineering group and all departments to maintain team and multi-discipline problem solving approach and product innovation.Participates in team problem solving through use of Process Mapping, Cause & Effect, Failure Mode Effect Analysis and Corrective Action Teams.Routinely interacts with Production, Facilities, Development Engineering, and Commercial teams.Analyze defective product, establish theory hypothesis, and evaluate factors that cause the defect and guard against similar failures in the future.Consider production needs and recommend new processes and equipment or to build/modify equipment to accommodate existing and future product needs.Collection and review of data required for product qualifications, process transfer and new Process Deployment.Remain informed of technological developments, innovations and issues relating to area of responsibility to ensure technical superiority As an Equal Opportunity Employer, we are committed to a diverse workforce
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Requires BS in Engineering; Mechanical, Industrial, Materials Science, Metallurgical or Chemical Engineering.Minimum 3+ years related experience in Process Engineering role or related experience using process control principles. ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Excellent written, verbal, listening and presentation skills are required.Ability to effectively manage multiple assignments.Successful candidate must have excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills in addition to demonstration of strong diagnostic/analytical skills.Must be proficient in software applications such as SAP, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access and Minitab.3-5 years related experience in process control principles or machining/manufacturing operations preferred.Knowledge of machining, metal forming, heat treatment and metal purification operations preferred.Lean Six Sigma DMAIC or DFSS Greenbelt training/certification is preferred.
