Senior Oracle Database Administrator/Supervisor
Requirements
Bose Corporation is seeking a Sr. Database Administrator to work in our Corporate Information Systems Database Administration team to troubleshoot, administer, and maintain business critical Oracle databases.
The essential functions of the position include, but are not limited to:
- Performing all aspects of Oracle database administration to support Oracle database systems.
- Write procedures/scripts to satisfy a variety of requirements in support of the Oracle environments.
- Monitor database performance and provide capacity planning using various tools and methods.
- Work with application and server support groups to troubleshoot performance issues.
- Provide support in development, test, and production environments.
- Perform Change Management activities for production environments.
- Act as the primary DBA contact to external Database Service providers.
- Coordinate and act as a liaison to business groups we are supporting with external DBA service providers.
- Keep appropriate documentation up-to-date.
- Effectively communicate support activities with other team members.
- Participate in the after hours on-call rotation for 7 days, every 3 to 4 weeks.
- Proven leadership skills and ability to manage small teams.
Skills
Candidate must have a minimum of 5 years Oracle Database Administration experience with a minimum of 3 years in a multi-database enterprise environment. Excellent analytical skills to troubleshoot and solve complex information Oracle database problems. Good working knowledge of SQL scripting, job scheduling, server setup and configuration, and all aspects of Oracle capabilities. Experience with UNIX, preferably IBM AIX and HP-UX. Experience with Microsoft Windows Server, SAP, BMC products, SQL Server, J2EE and MySQL are plus. Good inter-personal skills with the ability to collaborate and work will with other DBA team members, developers, application administrators, server administrators, and business analysts. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are needed to be able to effectively interact with colleagues with various levels of technical knowledge. Must be self-motivated and a self-starter, able to work independently on a project form start to finish with little or no supervision and deliver finished product within projected timelines.
Education
Bachelor's degree in Computer Information Systems or Computer Science is preferred.
