Senior HS&E Engineer
Reports directly to the HSE Manager and is responsible for providing technical advice and support with respect to matters impacting occupational safety, health and environment for the Spokane facility.
Develops, recommends and implements practical, functional approaches to resolve health, safety, and/or environmental issues in support of location strategies for achieving customer satisfaction and regulatory/policy compliance.Provides leadership on safety and health concerns and works with employees' at all organizational levels to affect corrective action strategies. Serves as adviser to safety committees.Delivers safety, health and environmental training on required regulatory, corporate and site-specific topics.Reviews current and proposed regulations/corporate requirements and recommends appropriate program measures to ensure compliance.Serves as the site VPP Coordinator to ensure continuous improvement and ongoing certification.May coordinate workers' compensation insurance program with third party administrator.Coordinates loss prevention insurance reviews and associated action plans. Oversees Inspection, repairs and maintenance of site alarm, sprinkler and access control systems.Provides professional support for the Structured Safety Process management system.Utilizes six-sigma tools and behavior-based safety strategies to guide injury prevention efforts.Facilitates root cause analyses of significant injuries and incidents. Conducts investigations into incidents involving safety, health and environmental violations and prepares appropriate written reports.Conducts internal safety, health and environmental audits to verify compliance levels. Evaluates site safety, health and environment systems, procedures and processes and implements changes to maximize effectiveness. Develops safety, health, and environmental policies/procedures/mgmt system and ensures that requirements are effectively integrated into standard work and operating procedures of the Honeywell Operating System (HOS).Establishes industrial hygiene monitoring plan, conducts monitoring activities, and provides technical guidance in the implementation of controls to minimize exposure to contaminants.Provides expertise during concept and design phases of products and manufacturing processes to ensure that sound safety and health control methodologies are integrated in design. Conducts process hazard assessments.Performs ergonomic assessments and provides technical guidance to employees to minimize risks associated with material handling, repetitive motion and workstation design.Provides HS&E management systems (ISO14001) and environmental compliance support.Interfaces with regulatory agencies, as appropriate. This position will require the incumbent to work with considerable freedom and independent action. And has a substantial degree of decision-making authority relating to the safe operation of work processes that may have considerable impact on end results. The HS&E Engineer is expected to base actions and recommendations on sound health, safety and environmental principles and supporting data.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
6-10 years demonstrated progressive experience in health, safety, environmental or ergonomics disciplines. Possess a B.S. degree in safety engineering/management, environmental, industrial hygiene or related science.Proven record of delivering results while handling multiple priorities in a lean environment ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Professional certification (CSP or CIH) desirable.Advanced degree in safety engineering/management, environmental, industrial hygiene or related science desirable.Security-related work experience - if the candidate has assisted with providing for coordination of all security systems, establishing and maintaining appropriate levels of anti-theft protection, ensuring appropriate protocols for precious metals security, and facilitating with site security awareness initiatives. Additionally, the deployment of contract guard service and providing briefings to contract guards on site security systems and alarms to ensure adequate response to potential emergency scenarios is desirable. Security-related work experience is not required for this position but desirable.
