Senior Accountant (General Ledger and Cost)
Our client, a growing multi billion dollar public company is seeking a Sr. Accountant to join there team. This position requires very strong GL skills as well as exposure to Cost and Inventory accounting. Please see below for the position details.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Senior Accountant position will be responsible for all aspects of the financial close as it pertains to inventory and cost of sales. This includes inventory and cost of goods sold analysis.
• Perform various month-end closing procedures including variance and margin analysis,
• Prepare monthly journal entries, account analysis, and explain month-end, quarterly-, and year-end variances,
• Prepare month-end account reconciliations,
• Assist with monthly inventory reporting packages,
• Assist with preparation of quarterly- and year-end audit PBC schedules and internal/external compliance activities related to inventory and COGS in a timely and accurate manner,
• Understand all aspects of the internal control system and how they affect the financial statements,
• Assist with all aspects of the annual physical inventory and assist with the development and implementation of a cycle count process to better manage inventory throughout the year,
• Work independently to analyze, investigate and resolve Cost Accounting related issues with internal and external contacts,
• Assist with SOX compliance guidelines within the Cost Accounting area,
• Special projects as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
Strong analytical and organizational skills
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Strong GL month-end close experience
• Strong proven knowledge of GAAP and their application
• Experience dealing with multiple currencies is a plus
• Strong MS Office skills, with strong spread sheet capabilities
• Organized, proactive, detail-oriented and comfortable working in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment, capable of handling many tasks
• Oracle experience is a plus
• At least 5 years of accounting experience preferably in a manufacturing environment
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or business-related degree
