SYSTEMS ENGINEERING - APPLICATIONS SCIENTIST (ELECTRON BEAM LITHOGRAPHY)

Headed by David Lam, best known for founding Lam Research Corporation (NASDQ 100-LRCX), Multibeam Systems Inc. is well funded by venture capital, NIST, and SEMATECH.

Multibeam  has developed an exciting new IC lithography technology.  It is seeking for a key member of the Technical Staff.  You will be working with CTO in developing new electron optical designs and in evaluating predicted optical performance.  You will be responsible for comparisons of experimental performance of the company’s products relative to predicted theoretical performance – aid in determining causes for performance deficits or deviations from predicted levels.  This role is best suited for a scientist with hands-on applications and systems engineering experience in the operation of SEMs or Electron Beam Lithography systems (mask writers, direct-write systems), and excellent analytical techniques, such as EDAX, WDS, Auger.

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

·       Mechanical and electrical lab skills for column assembly, alignment, and wiring

·       Experience with high voltage design, construction, assembly and safety practices

·       Experience with UHV design, fabrication, cleaning, assembly and bake-out practices

·       Experience with Schottky electron sources (operation and basic physics)

·       Knowledge of materials science, chemistry, surface science

·       Knowledge of electronics, both analog and digital, sufficient to assist engineers in diagnosing system problems

·       Knowledge of electron-beam resist deposition, exposure, and development methods

·       Experience using Word and Excel (including macros for data processing), PowerPoint and Project Tracking.

·       Excellent written and verbal communications.

 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

·       Preferred:  M.S or Ph.D. in Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science, or engineering; or a similar field involving the use of SEMs or Lithography systems.  Or equivalent.

·       Preferred:  5 years post-graduate work experience in a demanding research or industrial environment, meeting schedules, following budgets. Or equivalent.

·       Experience in dealing with customers in performing demanding systems demos both before product deliveries and at customer sites (including in foreign countries).
