Our Company
Micro Power is the global leader in portable power solutions for mission-critical equipment and provides custom battery solutions to leading portable medical, rugged handheld computing and commercial military equipment manufacturers. We design and manufacture custom OEM portable power products including battery packs and chargers, docking stations, charge cradles for industrial equipment manufacturers, medical device suppliers, and military markets.
This Position: Project Engineer
The Project Engineer is a key member of the project team responsible for new product development and is the primary interface among design, procurement, quality, and manufacturing engineering resources along with technical interfaces with customers and suppliers throughout the life cycle of products. Specific responsibilities include:
1. Provide input as to scope definition, duration, and work estimates to project managers for incorporation into project plans.
2. Manage product and NRE costs. Report estimates and actuals to project team.
3. Create and manage design requirements.
4. Facilitate and report design reviews.
5. Provide DFM input to design engineers.
6. Manage product design documentation – specifications, drawings, BOM, compliance requirements.
7. Engineering prototype builds.
8. Provide input regarding make/buy and supplier selection decisions for product components & assemblies.
9. Create test plans, coordinate testing, and publish reports.
10. Ensure readiness of product transferring into production released state.
11. Primary technical point of contact throughout lifecycle of product.
Secondary Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Contribute to the growth and evolution of the NPI process.
2. Support ISO 9000/2000/13485 and customer audits and certification.
3. Attend/interface with suppliers regarding new products and processes.
4. Mechanical and electrical CAD experience desired.
5. Help train other departments on technical issues/products.
Physical Requirements:
1. Must be able to sit for long periods of time at a computer workstation.
2. Must be able to lift 20 lbs.
Educational and Skill Requirements:
1. BS Engineering (ME or EE preferred) with 2-5 years experience in a related industry.
2. Working knowledge of electronic assemblies, injection molded parts, system integration, and ultrasonic assembly methods.
3. Systems Integration experience preferred.
4. Working knowledge of product data management, MRP, and requirements management software applications.
5. Knowledge of DOE, DFM.
6. Excellent problem solving abilities.
7. Effective written and verbal communication skills.
8. Timeliness, organization, and professionalism in team environment.
9. Experience with offshore manufacturing desired.

4. Fax machine
Work Schedule:
1. Generally 8am - 5pm, Monday through Friday, with additional time as needed.
2. Less than 1% unplanned absenteeism is expected.
