Production Manager
Business Unit Description LDS Test and Measurement is a truly global company focussed on the physical test & measurement markets, focussing on product validations. LDS is a name that has been traditionally associated with high quality vibration test systems however with the acquisition of Dactron, Nicolet Technologies and Gould Instruments we now also supply individual and fully integrated solutions for data acquisition and recording through simulation and test to analysis and reporting. LDS has two manufacturing sites and 4 R&D centres in Europe and the USA and we sell our solutions through direct sales offices or local agents in over 60 countries worldwide. Job Summary Accountability:To lead the manufacturing operations team in all facets of production, from coordination with supply chain through shipment of product to customers. Responsible for leading developing, creating and holding accountabilities to all direct reports. Essential Functions and Duties:1. Responsible for implementation of production plan into ERP system as agreed with VP Operations.2. Monitor and review employee performance to ensure that each employee reaches their highest potential (productivity, utilization, and efficiency).3. Develop and propose new testing and process strategies to improve efficiency and product quality.4. Maintain cost control for your area of responsibility. This includes: establishing and maintaining an operating budget to meet all goals and objectives, controlling all scrap, keeping overtime and controllable expenses to a minimum, and monitoring variances to work order reporting.5. Hire qualified employees and implement training programs that ensure all current and future goals can be obtained.6. Perform the scheduling and planning of your work area to meet established objectives and due dates and maintain the highest possible utilization.7. Monitor inventory in your area to ensure cycle count accuracy and adequate supply levels.8. Maintain customer/supplier relationship with all other departments to ensure the department is providing the level of service and quality required. Promote a teamwork spirit across all work centers and instill good housekeeping discipline.9. Establish and maintain Lean improvement initiatives and measurements for department.10. Continually evaluate all operations within your area and other areas at LDS.11. Coordinate support and resource assistance with Service Manager for service department repair center function.12. Serve as a key support manager to the VP Operations- Instruments.13. Responsible for efficiency planning, goal setting, and team leadership with emphasis on quality.14. Assist the departmental manager in developing policies and procedures.15. Maintain manufacturing organization to ISO standards.16. Coordinate and maintain calibration schedule for all production ATE tools.17. Other duties as assigned.Qualifications:1. Bachelor s degree and 3+ years experience, or Associate s degree and 7-10 years experience in Production, Operations.2. Minimum of three years experience supervising a technical workforce.3. Strong organizational, priority setting and delegation skills.4. Understanding of Lean principles, practices and measurements.5. Basic understanding of cost accounting.6. Knowledge of instrument manufacturing operations and processes.7. Ability to adapt, strong change leader.8. Strong verbal and written communication skills.9. Able to exercise independent judgment and take action.10. Positive customer and supplier relation skills.11. Concern for cost and profitability.
