POSITION TITLE:  Product Marketing Manager - Electromechanical Relays    

 

LOCATION:  Schaumburg, IL 60173

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

 

Total responsibility for the management of electromechanical relays working in conjunction with the product business units located in Japan.  Responsibility includes identification, planning, and market introduction of new products, and promotion of existing products, to ensure rapid market share and sales growth. The position is also responsible for pricing, forecasting, competitive evaluation, product positioning, creation of sales tools and training materials.

 

Markets include but are not limited to: Automated Test and Measurement Equipment, Medical, HVAC, Telecom, Security, Industrial, and Appliance

 

The customer base consists of large domestic and global OEMs, who buy direct and small to medium sized customers that buy through our dedicated distribution channel.

 

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Sales Support

•  Act as the initial interface to the sales team for all questions related to product line

•  Develop and manage target customer list for all products, exiting and new

•  Direct sales team towards the most significant (strategic) accounts and help them penetrate these accounts

•  Visit customers with Sales Engineers to provide credibility and to initiate design projects

 

Market Development and Strategic Marketing

•  Provide comprehensive market analysis for various product/market niches and for the product line as a whole

•  Understand customer/market demand for new products and communicate to the product business unit

•  Formulate plans/priorities in conjunction with the product business unit to win key markets

•  Create presentation materials for OCB-AM management for semi-annual and annual meetings

•  Attend key tradeshows to obtain market/customer, competitor and technology information

 

BU support responsibilities

•  Advise factory of market potential for various products and product features

•  Participate in design review meetings with the product business unit

•  Advise factory of market pricing requirements

•  Negotiate pricing structure and OCB-AM profit margin with factory

•  Coordinate priorities for customer shipments (allocation) based on overall strategy

 

Marcom Responsibilities

•  Create and update product brochures

•  Write promotional Articles

•  Write Press Releases

•  Develop public relations strategy and negotiate with key customers for collaboration when needed

•  Design Sample Kits

•  Design Trade Show booth graphics

•  Advise tradeshow strategy

•  Maintain Website for aligned products

 

Product Responsibilities:

•  Set up product item masters in database

•  Release new products to the sales force, distribution network

•  Develop product training material for the sales department

•  Set up list prices with discount schedules

•  Review data sheets as provide by Business Unit

•  Notify sales when products are modified

•  Manage the discontinuation of product families

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, COMPETENCIES & QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

 

Education: 

A four year Engineering degree preferred. Business/Marketing Degree is also acceptable.

 

Experience: 

We are looking for seasoned Product Manager with 5 years of sales and/or marketing experience specifically with electromechanical switching components. Proven history of identifying industry trends and consistent market share growth.

 

Technical Abilities:  Must have excellent technical product knowledge and communication skills. Able to conduct market surveys and compile total market studies from the surveys, Develop total strategic Marketing plan for product lines. Work with Marcom to create top notch sales tools, new product releases, press releases. Communicate frequently with the entire sales force, Business Units, customers and distributors by phone and E-mail daily.

 

Behavioral Profile:  Outgoing personality. Able to work closely with other OCB team members.  Meet with customers and distributors to discuss product line.

 

Travel Requirements: At least 40% domestic travel. Occasional travel to include Japan and China to visit with Business Unit Personnel as well as production and quality control staff members at the factories.  Occasional travel to Brazil, Mexico, Canada, and Europe. Weekend and/or extended hours may be necessary.

 

PHYSICAL & ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS:

 

Physical Requirements:  Able to walk trade shows, stand at trade show booth, help set up trade show booths, carry product, literature and sample containers up to 35 lbs.

 

Environmental Factors:  Office setting.
