Planner

JOB TITLE:  Planner  - Shop I

 

DESCRIPTION:

 

Responsible for the timely implementation of resources in order to accomplish  QVII’s objective of supplying the Customer with a quality product.  The Planner schedules material and labor within their own area of responsibility in order to accomplish the overall goal of meeting the Master Production Schedule, and interfaces with all applicable groups (Engineering, etc.). Duties include the following:

 

Is responsible for understanding all areas of the Business System involving Order Entry, Inventory, Work Orders, Capacity Planning, Purchasing, Material Requirements Planning, and related Accounting functions.

 

Material Requirements Planning responsibilities will include implementing and updating the requirements as set forth by the Master Production schedule and other ERP System tools.  Based on their area of responsibility the Planner will Run Order Action Reports, Firm and Release Job Orders, Print and Distribute appropriate Job paperwork to their area of responsibility.  In addition, the Planner will direct Purchasing to buy Purchased Materials to accomplish the goals of the Production Schedule.  Work Orders and Purchased Materials rescheduling, is the Planner's responsibility based on the needs of the Master Production schedule and final assembly.

 

Interfacing with Engineering.  The planner has total Bill of  Material responsibilities based on inputs from Engineering in the form of Engineering Change Notices. The planner should keep abreast of upcoming changes and always implement them in a timely manner.

 

Interfacing with Production.  The planner is responsible for resolving all Bill of Material, Engineering, and Shortage related issues related to their area of production responsibility.

 

Extensive use of Syteline Business System, Excel and Microsoft Word for Report writing in order to define Status of Work associated with the planner's area of responsibility.

 

Cross trains with information coordinator as a backup for Job Posting.

 

Responsible to level load all work centers under area of responsibility. Identify any capacity concerns looking out to the future and make recommendations to solve the concerns.

 

Responsible for all Labor Posting in Shop 1 in a timely manner.

 

Responsible for all Outside operations associated with Shop 1 material; Plating, Heat Treat etc.

 

Must perform all related material move transactions and associated shipping paperwork. 

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Must have 5 years experience in Production/Inventory  Control, and demonstrate a knowledge of  Materials Requirements Planning. APICS certification or willing to pursue certification, and have a working knowledge of computer software tools such as Excel and Microsoft Word.  A 4 year degree  or certificate in a related discipline is desirable.  Must also demonstrate the following:

 

Able to follow written and verbal directions from various people with minimum supervision.

Working proficiency in computer software tools such as Microsoft Word and/or Excel.

Good communications skill, both written and verbal.

Must be able to complete assignments and tasks in a timely manner while dealing with multiple interruptions.

Willing to change job responsibilities as company needs dictate.

 

SALARY RANGE:

Established by the VP of Manufacturing, Planning Manager, Director of Materials, and the Personnel Director

 

REPORTS TO:

Supervisor of  Production Planning
