Physical Design CAD Engineer, Senior

Job Description
Work with internal Physical Design teams and EDA vendors to develop and support the ASIC physical design flow. This position requires an overall understanding of the physical design flow from RTL to GDL. The successful candidate will possess in depth knowledge in physical synthesis, design partitioning, floor planning, place and route, and clock tree synthesis.

Responsibilities Include:
. Work with design to identify areas for flow improvement, develop plans and implement improvements
. Support ASIC physical design tools such as Synopsys PC/Astro, Magma Blastfusion and Cadence FE
. Provide tool support and issue debugging services to design teams
. Develop and maintain 3rd party tool integration and productivity enhancement routines
. Develop and maintain automated test procedure to test various aspects of tools, technology files and libraries in support of new releases.
. Develop and maintain a robust release mechanism for the distribution of the design environment to Qualcomm sites worldwide.
. Install and test new tool versions and patches.
. Document the flow use through HTML and UNIX man pages.




Skills/Experience
. Experience in Design Automation and UNIX system administration.
. Understanding timing constraints, SI prevention/fixing, as well as power planning
. Proficient in Synopsys PC and Astro, Magma Blast tool set or Cadence FE
. Proficient in UNIX and Perl.
. Excellent interpersonal and analytical skills with the ability to work independently.
. Highly motivated, excellent team spirit, product and customer oriented.
. Experience in Makefile, Tcl/Tk, PERL, HTML, C++



Additional Skills

Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering/Electrical Engineering required. Master's degree in Computer Engineering/Electrical Engineering preferred.
