Job Responsibilities: The Database Administrator plans, coordinates and administers matters related to Oracle database(s), including base definition, structures, documentation, upgrades, long-range requirements, operational guidelines and protection. Ensures accuracy and completeness of data in master files and various support tools, such as base dictionaries. Establishes and maintains security integrity controls. Formulates and monitors policies, procedures and standards relating to database management. May direct the following: troubleshooting, recovery, tuning of the database, software installation and upgrades, resolving Oracle errors and failures, auditing activities, and resource utilization. Support and monitoring of Oracle Applications 11i components. Planning and implementation of Oracle Application upgrades and enhancements. Involvement in continuous performance improvement of the Oracle Applications platform. Having wide-ranging experience, uses professional concepts and company objectives to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways. Works on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors. Exercises judgment in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Networks with key contacts outside own area of expertise. PRIMARY FUNCTIONS: • Coordinate/implement database rollouts (including testing/certification) • Daily maintenance of database infrastructure (checking nightly logs, etc.) • Coordinate hardware maintenance/upgrades. • Implement database server software maintenance and upgrades • Troubleshoot database server and connectivity problems • Oracle 11i Apps Patching and Upgrades – Patch management • Troubleshoot Oracle Applications 11i issues escalated through the Global Helpdesk • Maintain/implement server/database/user security (access rights, permissions, etc.) • Maintain databases as assigned (monitor disk utilization, restore versions, etc.) • Coordinate development/implementation of new database applications with Developers, etc. • Clone 11i Apps environments as required SECONDARY FUNCTIONS: • Create/terminate user accounts • Provide ongoing training to support teams, as necessary • Maintain/update all appropriate documentation • Attend trade show and conferences to stay current with recent technology • Confer with System Administrators to ensure proper backup and restore procedures are in place • General system administration (Unix/NT) REQUIREMENTS: BS Computer Science or related degree OCA/OCP certification 3 Years IT Experience Very Strong SQL knowledge 6+ years Database Administration 4+ years Unix/NT Administration 4+ years 11i Oracle Application Administration HP-UX Administration EMC Storage Administration Networking concepts Programming (sh, perl, http, VB, sql, etc) desirable Submit Your Resume Online NowAPC-MGE is an equal opportunity employer.
