Multimedia SW/Systems Engineer -- Low Power Architecture and Design (All Levels)
Job Description
Hiring at all levels for low power, high performance, wireless-networked multimedia SoC architecture and design (Music-Player, mobile HDTV, Camera & Camcorder, 2D/3D Graphics etc.) on QUALCOMM's mobile device chipsets.
Optimize power-efficiency and performance of present generation designs and help architect future products.
The job may include the following responsibilities:
Identification and analysis of system level issues for power consumption, creation of optimization plans by working with DSP, Systems, Software and Hardware teams. Creation of proof-of-concept solutions for complex ideas. Assisting developers with implementation of power efficient commercial quality solutions.
Executing power measurements on specific test scenarios in a lab environment, using tools and techniques for profiling embedded systems.
Contribute to design of low-power, high performance, mobile wireless solutions (System, Hardware, & Software) to enable multimedia applications
Skills/Experience
The ideal candidate would have several years of experience in writing embedded software with the ability to make architectural trade-offs at the system level
5+ years of software development experience of which at least 3 years should be in design, development, integration & test of embedded software for mobile or multimedia targets
Strong C programming skills and hands-on experience with debugging and performing real-time analysis of embedded systems is required
Previous exposure to large scale software build, integration and test environments
Good understanding of microprocessor architecture (core, cache, memory models, bus architecture, etc.) and common hardware blocks (power management, LCD, SDRAM, etc.) and related protocols
Familiarity with Multimedia, including audio, voice and video codecs, and graphics is a plus
Additional Skills
Background in Multimedia signal processing, audio (e.g. AAC, MP3), video (e.g. MPEG4, H.264) and graphics (e.g. OpenGL, DirectDraw) a plus
